The move was from a 5 bed property in a village to a 5 bed property in a country location. The move included the dismantle and rebuild of 3 double beds and the removal of an upright piano from the ground floor to be placed on the first floor of the new property.

"I was recommended the firm from a family member who had previously used Blacks.
From the start of the quote everyone was extremely helpful in answering our questions.
The team arrived promptly. They were professional, polite and respectful to our items at all times.
They efficiently packed up. Due to a simultaneous move, we did however have a couple of hours waiting time before we could get into the new property.
The team did extremely well to navigate into the tight drive, but once doing so this made the move much more efficient for them than any alternative would have been.
They did extremely well getting the upright piano up the split staircase.
All our items were well handled with no damage during transit.
I would definitely recommend the bed building service. It was wonderful after a long day not to have to worry about building the beds too.
I would definitely use Blacks for any future moves and recommend the firm to others."

Moving from one property to another in the same day

"I found the whole process very easy from the beginning when I had the survey completed to the moving process on the day. All paperwork was very thorough and explained in detail all I need to know in regards to the move. On the day itself, the team turned up on time and the removal of items from the property was completed in a timely fashion and a lot quicker than I had anticipated. Once we arrived at the new property and collected the keys the team offloaded our items and placed them where I asked, again this was all done in a good timeframe. Great care was taken with all furniture and boxes delivered. Thoroughly good 5 star service and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a removals firms."

In August 2022, we decided to sell our house in Angus,Scotland and downsize, but in England. The house sold very quickly but we did not have anywhere to move to, so knew our things would need to go into storage for a few months. We wanted that to be with a local company: Blacks of Brechin quoted a reasonable price for this service.(Mr.Black Jnr undertook the assessment for this). Ms Gillian Dempster was our contact at the company. When we had to change our planned move date to 10 days earlier, the company was happy to accommodate that change.

"Organizing our removal was easy and Gillian was very patient and helpful with us. This was a stressful time as we had lived in the same house since we married in 1983! Everything was "new" to us almost 70 year olds, so we asked lots of questions,including about storage.Gillian opened a warehouse door, so we could see where/how our things would be stored.

Moving out day(14th November)was damp and miserable; our old front door to drive was quite a long way and down some steps. The crew (Lee and Scott) was on time, cheerful and helpful. They were careful with our things.They packed, moved and loaded quickly and efficiently; very impressive!

We decided to keep a few more things than we had meant to, so before we left Scotland,a week later,Gillian opened another container for us and added the several boxes which we delivered by car. Again, patient and helpful.Thereafter,'phone contact for paying storage bills and email contact to arrange forward transport of our belongings' was efficient and easy.

We found a new home quite quickly, south of Oxford, but had to wait almost 4 months to move in. We only had to wait a week for Gillian to give us a confirmed delivery date; to our surprise, Easter Monday Bank Holiday!

The crew(Robert and Will)arrived promptly.They handled our things carefully. Like the November crew, they were cheerful, helpful and efficient. They also had to work in the rain! The drop off was completed quickly and within the allotted time - about 2 hours-so the crew was able to continue to their next job on schedule. Again, most impressive.

So,we are very glad we chose to move/store with Blacks of Brechin.

Moved from a country cottage across country to a small semi.

"Can't recommend Black's of Brechin highly enough. Impeccable service.

At first glance the cost of professional removers seems high. But for me it was less than the solicitor or the estate agent - and worth ten times more!

From the first visit Anne Marie was reassuring and impressively knowledgable. From looking round the house she was spot on about the scale of the move and the packing I needed. In advance every question was answered quickly, and advice was happily given. It turns out moving house was as stressful as everyone says it is - so finding a company where the staff support you and are just nice to talk to is invaluable.

Black takes back used boxes if you care for them, and only write on the tape used to seal the boxes. Next time I pack, smaller felt tip and more detail about what's in each box. Also - get rid of stuff weeks before the move! And work on the assumption it takes days to unpack - so make up lots of boxes with everything you need for the first week... not just the first day.

On moving day the van turned up right on time. The surveyor/co-ordinator turned up too -which I wasn't expecting. It was great having her around - really reassuring and supportive.

The removal men were exceptional. They took real care about wrapping furniture in protective blanketing and securing everything safely. They handled boxes and furniture with the kind of care as if it was their own. Always be grateful to them for their obvious care and attention. I was really confident in them after fifteen minutes I went off for a coffee and muffin and a bit of an stress-break - which was incredible.

After the unload it took me ages to unpack my boxes, and I returned used boxes in fits and starts over a few weeks. Team were great about how I returned things. And when I finished returning boxes, the refund was fast and easy.

One thing I'd change would be to pay the extra and let the professionals pack the boxes.

Apart from that, Black's of Brechin were exceptional. Everyone I dealt with was hugely professional, kind and caring. It was impeccable service and I can't think of a single suggestion for improving their service - and it's unique to be able to say that about service provision these days. I can't thank them enough for making a very stressful move much less stressful than it could have been. Great company - worth every penny."

"Have to say that the experience was second to none. They made the process simple from start to finish. Price was very competitive compared to other firm who quoted some astronomical amounts. The lads who completed the removal & delivery of my my belongings were great. Very efficient, knew exactly what they were doing & were very polite & corteous. The office staff who dealt with the storage side were also fantastic. No damage to any of my belongings in transit or during storage. "After contacting Blacks we were informed of all the procedures involved for the move. We got an on line quote first more as an estimate and then we had a physical survey conducted to get a true price and highlight ang special items requiring extra care. Very professional service. On the day of the move the movers arrived as expected with them giving us a call to confirm arrival time. Packing and removal went without a hitch over a period of 2 days. move was really complicated by delays from our buyers and also the sellers of our new house.

"Nothing fazed the removal guys. They were all really helpful and stored our stuff for 2 weeks, then came up and gave us our things in a really timely manner. We are still trying to unpack our boxes even after 2 months!! Everyone was great.. The move date was changed several times and this was always fine with removers. They arrived on the date agreed, moved all my items, left me with what I needed over weekend, then final date, they took the rest of the items, stored for 2 weeks and then delivered. Still have not found everything, but there are still quite a few boxes to unpack! The guys were great and so was Gillian. All really helpful"

To pack my belongings from my house in Brighton and drive them up north to store at your depot in Brechin. This was during a petrol shortage and they still arrived on time with no fuss or worries. They then packed up two large vans with the stored items and delivered them to my new home. They also delivered a bed on their way home to my father''s.

"The Blacks of Brechin lorry pulled up outside my home and the friendliest men jumped out and set to work. Nothing was too much trouble, they worked so hard and were amazing. Kind, cheery, efficient and made what could have been a very stressful day calm and easy.


Blacks of Brechin then stored all my stuff for nearly 7 months and when it came to unpacking, everything was in perfect condition. Again, the moving men were great and another terribly stressful day made so much better due to their cheery professionalism. They couldn't have done a better job. I have already recommended Blacks of Brechin to a dear family member who I am sure will have just as good an experience at a stressful time. A huge thank you."

Moving my aged in laws from a house in Edzell to a flat in Aberdeen via my own house in Aberdeen to drop off certain heavy garden items

"Blacks did a splendid job moving my in laws from Edzell to Aberdeen.

Some of my in laws heavy garden stuff came to our house as part of the move and moving it around down to our garage or into the garden was quite an undertaking which the Blacks guys did with good grace and were all very cheerful.

When they then went up to the flat and moved my in laws in, nothing was too much trouble – with moving stuff around more than once at times as my mother in law decided she didn’t like where something had been placed first time round! They even fixed up the TV

We couldn’t praise the Black team enough.

We arranged our removal from our temporary accommodation to our new location about 20 miles away. We had a couple of large pieces of furniture along with white goods. Our accommodation was on the first floor and although the van was close to the front entrance,it was quite a task going between the flat and the van.

"At the destination,one of our new neighbours decided that he wanted take his dog for a walk, and needed to use the narrow lane where the van was parked to transport his dog in a car. according to my son, this man was rude and abrupt to the men when requesting that they move the van. They were then unable to reverse down the lane to our cottage. This meant that they had to move large pieces of furniture along to the end of the road.

The service provided was excellent with good communication, friendly and uncomplicated. The removal men were courteous, friendly and punctual. They know the locality well and completed the removal competently."
