We hired Paul to put a final coat of paint on the walls and ceilings on the upstairs of our home – 3 x bedrooms and a bathroom – and along with painting he also did a lot of prep work to get the walls ready.

Remedial painting to various rooms caused by work done by third parties and water.

"Paul first did some paitwork in our house in 2013 having been recommended by a neighbour. He has since decorated every room in the house and also done some remedial work following work done by third parties.which required the araes to be repainted.
More remedial work was required in 4 rooms after some electrical work, the installation of a new alarm system, and repainting required after water leaks and water marks, so we asked Paul to uqote for the work.
Paul visited us and we gave him details of the work that we needed doing and he gave us a detailed quote, including detailed materials and labour costs. He said that he was fully booked until September/October time, but because of our previous experience with Paul and the quality of his work we accepted the quote and were happy to wait.
Paul gave us a call and said that he had a cancellation and would we be happy for him to start the work, which we agreed to and he started the next day. The work was due to take 2-3 days, which included time to match paints to that which were currently on the walls.
Paul completed the work in 2 days and his work was excellent as always. The matching of the remedial work was excellent and it was impossible to detect where the work had been done.
Paul's work is excellent and his approach is impecable. He is a perfectionist and always discusses how to address issues that he uncovers as his wirk progresses. We would highly recommend Paul.

Paul repaired a major crack in the wall between the orignal brickwork and an extension. He had to fill the crack, replaster and paint. The crack was extending into the ceiling and was very unsightly. He also repaired a bowed ceiling in the bedroom where we had a leak from the flat roof and repaired many other cracks and issues in the paintwork throughout the house. Doing more than he originally quoted for at no extra cost. It was three full days of hard work in total.

He was the epitomy of professionalism, punctual, polite and very tidy. He left the house spotless. "Paul did a fantastic job of decorating our hall way and second bedroom. He arrived on time, was very considerate, cleaning up after himself at the end of the first day and leaving the place immaculate once he'd finished. "We used this decorator, Paul, for our dining room, stairs and landing. In a nutshell his work was truly excellent. The attention to detail in his preparation was outstanding and something you don’t see much of these days. Basically he takes extreme pride in his work, refitting skirting boards completely because they were badly positioned originally as an example. I particularly liked the folds of the wallpaper into the window bays they were sharp, crisp, tight, Perfect! Paintwork was also excellent the detail in door mouldings was still there, not all ‘gobbed up’ with excessive paint. Quite simply he is now our decorator of choice, all future business to him. Yes he’s expensive BUT if you want quality it costs and Paul delivers, and afterwards you’ll realise it was worth every penny."

Paint large lounge, make good large holes in drywall, paint walls, ceiling, repair to water damage, paint skirting. 2 storey house, paint large ceiling on stairs, 2 landings, 2 sets of stairs, downstairs hall, again walls, ceilings and skirtings, 11 sets of doorways to paint, architraves etc,(not doors, these were oak)

"Perfection!! Even though we were satisfied Paul worked over until he was satisfied, Paul is very guarded about his reputation and it shows in the quality of his work. We also took his guidance on materials and colour schemes and were not disappointed, he's not cheap but then not expensive, remember, you pay peanuts.... Ask yourself, do you want your painting done every 2 years because it hasn't lasted that long or would you just rather get it done properly once , He also covered large holes in our drywall to give a seemless finish, saving us money on a plasterer"

"We used Paul to redecorate almost half of our house. Not only is the work to a very high standard, as other reviews show too, but we were particularly impressed by Paul's diligence and creativity, his willingness to talk through options, and determination to solve problems. He even corrected substandard work done by other tradesmen (the sanding of our tiles in hallway)! Overall we are very happy, and looking forward to having him back to decorate our new kitchen in the autumn. Highly recommend."

Fully decorating a tired and dated lounge dining room and hall stairs and landing. Involved preparing all walls by stripping the existing paper and repairing areas of plaster by digging back to the brickwork in some areas. All walls lined with paper to give clean lines and the appearance of a smooth plaster surface. Papered feature walls on one side of the lounge diner and one side of the hall, stairs and landing. All woodwork prepared and painted and the stairs banister given a varnish finish to show an underlying grain effect. Door furniture changed and a new door latch created for the under stairs cupboard.

"Paul has transformed rooms with tired and dated decorating into rooms with a bright modern feel and the stairs banister is nothing short of a work of art. Paul's attention to detail is second to none and he keeps you informed about what he is doing every step of the way. It is obvious he takes great pride in doing the job right and never cuts corners which shows in the final finish. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Paul to anybody looking for an outstanding and professional painting and decorating job."

In the kitchen where we had replaced a cooker hood which was smaller than the original one, leaving repairs needing to be done to the wall and ceiling. Also we needed repairs to the wall in the kitchen and the lounge where we had additional power points installed.

"Over the last few years we have used 1st Class Painting and Decorating to decorate our whole house. This time he repainted and made good areas in the kitchen where we had replaced a cooker hood which was smaller than the original one, leaving repairs needing to be done to the wall and ceiling. The end result was excellent. He also made good areas in the lounge and in the kitchen where we had recently had new power sockets installed. Outstanding Lounge Stairs Landing Revamp

"This is the third time we've used 1st Class Painting and Decorating. To state that Paul is a perfectionist in everything he does would be an understatement. It's Paul's attention to detail and the additional little things that he does on the side, e.g fixing door handles/latches, fashioning ducting to hide wiring, etc which make him truly exceptional. Paul's work is outstanding and the final result utterly breathtaking, this guy knows his trade inside out and back to front and it shows. "Superb job.
Paul has just finished decorating my hall,landing and 2 flights of stairs. This proved to be a challenging job,as many of the walls needed repairs and we changed dark varnished wood to white. He has completed the job to a very high standard and even managed to fit in some other minor repairs. Paul is an excellent tradesman,passionate about his work and totally reliable. "Paul decorated all of our ground floor rooms whilst we were away on holiday, we returned to find a perfect finish, house tidy and all our furniture taken care of.

Paul also repaired a large section of damaged plaster, re-hung cupboards and sorted out a damp corner.
