Installation of a new gas boiler, water tank and solar PV panels on our barn roof.

"After getting 3 quotes, we chose Mollison HPR to install our new gas boiler, water tank and solar PV panels.

We agreed a start date and the team arrived on that day to start our installation which we were told would take a week. Our installation was more difficult than some, as the solar panels were going onto a corrugated iron barn roof with a metal support structure needed to reinforce the underside of the roof.

At the end of each day, a list of materials required for the next one was drawn up, which they collected en-route to our house. The team are very hard working, take pride in the work they do and are a credit to Scott Mollison. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were very polite and respectful.

I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone as they merit a 5 star review.

"Initially contacted Scott to provide a quotation for Air Source Heat Pump and Solar Thermal. He was very knowledgeable and polite.
There were various delays to the installation due to supplier issues and faulty parts but Scott worked hard to get the installation complete as quickly as possible. We now have ASHP with Solar Thermal all running smoothly and efficiently.

Install 12 400 watt solar panels, 5kw battery, 9.5kw ASHP and electric charger. All other parts like inverter etc included.

"Scott and his team were excellent from start to finish and would definitely recommend them. For the level of work it seemed good value for money and they were very good at explaining what they were doing. They also had no quibbles with correcting others work to streamline the whole installation. We had a solar pv, 5 kw battery and ASHP installed along with an EV charger. Apps now up and running and it’s my new favourite game….

The administration involved can be frustratingly slow from the government end but again Mollison were all over it and assisted with everything including the new EPC.

It’s early days but so far all good.

I’ll be using them in the future for any projects. Normally from experience trades when they encounter an issue or anything unplanned for they immediately charge you more or make a big deal of it. I felt Scott saw it as a challenge which he advised you of but quietly corrected and worked out a way to solve it.

Scott and his team installed a Klova pellet burner and thermal solar panels on my roof. Objective was to provide constant hot water and to power an existing central heating circuit (underfloor heating downstairs and two radiators - one in upstairs bathroom, other in downstairs shower room). My house is very well insulated and this is all that is required in terms of heating. First job was to remove an old Rayburn wood burning stove (which was the source of all my hot water) which was expertly done.

"Scott and his team did an excellent job. The day that the majority of the electrics and plumbing were carried out - you would not have known they had visited! Scott is a very fast worker and I was impressed by his combined plumbing and electrical expertise. The work carried out on the roof was seamless and any fears I had about disruption to the slates and proper sealing afterwards were unfounded.

The new water tank fitted into the same space as the old one and the connections between the panels on the roof and the tank have left the attic space completely unobstructed. Removal of the old header tank in the attic space has generally improved accessibility around the attic.

I am very pleased with the works. Total number of days was around 5 or 6 - which is the time that Scott said it would take.

Some teething problems with communication but I'll admit this was not helped by supply chain issues and the project was delayed over several months because of this. I'm sure this was in part due to us coming out of covid. I believe Scott worked around this as best he could. The project was further impacted by the time that the Energy Saving Trust took to process my application and get the funding instalments to me so I could commission the works.

The team were chatty and good humoured and no task was too much to ask for - or have explained.

I would thoroughly recommend Scott and his team if you are planning your own renewables installation project.

Photovoltaic and thermal solar panels fitted, including a heat store heated by both, to bring down both electric and gas bills for our household.

"Mollison HPR were one of very few companies that were able to install both voltaic and thermal panels with MSC certification, and as such they are very in demand. This resulted in a small wait before the job could commence, but once they started they carried out the work efficiently. I was kept informed of timings etc, and found Scott and his staff very friendly. I was particularly happy with how neat all the work installed was, from pipework linking my boiler and heat store to the integrated panels on the roof. Scott was also very helpful in providing the information required by Home Energy Scotland. This wasn't a cheap system to install, and only time will tell how cost effective it is, but I am very happy with the work done and am happy to recommend Mollison HPR to others."

Installation of air source heat pump and water tank. This was an entirely new central heating system so also included installation of all radiators.

"I contacted Scott for a quote for an air source heat pump and his communication was great from the offset. He arrived with an apprentice and took the time to explain to him (as well as myself) what the job entailed. Scott provided me with a very reasonable quote and for that reason I proceeded with his service. Scott kept me in the loop about installation dates and some delays (which he did say could happen due to issues with material delivery). Scott and his team installed the heating system with as little damage to walls etc as possible and they tidied up after themselves meaning little disruption to my home. There have been a couple of small issues along the way such as items arrived damaged from the suppliers and Scott has been very quick to rectify this. I would highly recommend Scott and his team to friends and family and I would not hesitate to use their service again in the future should I need it."

"Compared to the other representatives we met, Scott came across as plain speaking and honest. He told us what he would suggest for what we wanted and how much it would cost. There was no big sales talk which was excellent. One guy had covered our roof in Panels even the bits where no sun would reach them!!! Scott's team proved to be hardworking and efficient. They did the work on time and by the end of 4/5 days we had a solar PV System up and running! They were all friendly and pleasant to have around. They like their tea with 2 sugars and milk........just in case you wanted to offer! The house and outside were left tidy. "Scott from Mollison HPR was friendly and honest and we felt we could trust him and his work. The installation was delayed due to the borehole drillers having an issue at a previous location and then due to supply issues (which have been a feature of the times for everyone). When things were available they worked hard to get it done. Scott made further visits required to remove more air from the system. All documentation was provided. Scott's only failing is in communication. He doesn't do all that well with replying to texts and emails or remembering to inform folk about what is happening. He could probably do with a secretary to help keep on top of communicating with clients."

"Scott was very helpful and informative, providing advice, guidance and answers to the many questions we asked. The installation works were done exceptionally neatly, managing to fit everything into a very tight space, which was a bonus. We did have some minor delays during our works but this was unavoidable, being down to bad weather and transport problems which Scott worked around the best he could.
I would not hesitate using Mollison's again and would definitely recommend them."

"My old boiler had been breaking down a lot recently and was becoming far too unreliable. Eventually ended up with no heating or hot water. I had Mollison HPR come and install a new one to which they managed to book in very quickly meaning I was without for only a day or so. Very tidy and good workmanship, explained all with the new controls and I have a 10 year warranty which is very reassuring. Highly recommended."

Fitting of air source heat pump to replace old oil boiler.

"Several quotes were done and Scott recommended this type of system to prevent excess pipes on walls and use existing pipe work to radiators. Everything was also explained at the time and what other choices could be available.

Once I gave the go ahead (a few months later due to COVID), Scott was quick to organise things and managed to sort things out for the agreed date. He arrived in good time and got to work for a couple of days, fitting the units and doing electrical work. On the 3rd day however, we had an issue with a damaged part (from a local plumbers merchant) which we had to wait a couple of weeks for. Which was unfortunate as was all going well.

Scott returned with the undamaged parts and set to work, installing the new hot water cylinder and modifying pipe work etc. At no point was I left overnight without heating or hot water.

Another couple of things were sorted out as well and advice given about a new shower (which was noted at the time of the quote). A tile in the bathroom had to be removed, this was cutout without breaking it, then refitted and back to it’s original state, so you wouldn’t know it had been done. The work was completed to a high standard and everything left neat and tidy.

All the work is guaranteed now for five years for peace of mind and overall I am very happy with the work provided."

The team also removed all the old parts and oil tank

"Scott, Andy and Chris did a fantastic job installing our ASHP and replacing some radiators. The communication prior to works was excellent and Scott was professional and accommodating with our daft questions and last minute changes. They turned up on time, cleaned up before leaving and even managed to finish earlier than planned. What's more, they clearly take pride in their work as the finish is excellent. The whole installation involved a replacement boiler, hot water cylinder and solar panel complete with all plumbing, commissioning and after sales attention. Scott ensured that the existing system was bled, and removed all air trapped during the installation and flushing process. In addition Scott was interested in the performance of the heating, especially since the installation was carried out during a cold January. Excellent service and work More recently, Scott re-visited for some minor tuning to the solar panel control system, which was really only possible in the March/April, once the strength of the sun was sufficient to offer a heat input I am very pleased indeed, I have all necessary paperwork and Scott has provided excellent service and support, during what is a quality installation with no issues whatsoever.

"Mollison HPR was recommended by a leading heating manufacturer. I was impressed with the firms credentials, previous work and knowledge. The work was scheduled, started exactly on time, and was preceded by a detailed and clear quotation. I received exactly what was described and this installation was on time, and in accordance with all expectations, no materials were left and the installation was left neat and tidy. The system worked exactly as expected and Scott contacted me to ensure that following commissioning the system was functioning
A further visit to 'tune' the solar panel control loop was made, when the weather made that viable, and as of this time the system operates reliably, economically and in accordance with my expectations
It is neatly installed, functioning in a reliable and low cost manner, and my heating costs are as I expected.
The garage and roof, are clean and tidy and I have painted around the floor area
The plumbing work is straight, neat and leak free
Scott and his team were polite, reliable, polite and flexible
