Home Information Pack - Redress Scheme

Since 14 December 2007 every home put on the market, no matter what size, must have a Home Information Pack. It brings together valuable information at the start of the process - such as a sale statement, local searches and evidence of title - which could save you money, time and stress. The Pack also includes an Energy Performance Certificate that contains advice on how to cut CO2 emissions and fuel bills. An integral part of the new arrangements is the setting up of an independent complaints handling and redress scheme where a dispute arises over the HIP. The Housing Act 2004 makes it mandatory for Estate Agents to join a scheme. The Secretary of State has appointed the Ombudsman for Estate Agents scheme as an approved redress scheme.

Ombudsman for Estate Agents - Sales Code

The Ombudsman for Estate Agents (OEA) Scheme provides an independent service for dealing with disputes between Member Agencies and consumers relating to the buying, selling or letting of residential property in the UK. The Ombudsman is independent of Member Agencies and will provide a free, fair and speedy review of complaints falling within his terms of reference.
