Ours was a slightly unusual move. We didn''t initially know whether our goods would be moved to store for a short while before an onward move, or whether they would be transferred to a final destination. We also had no firm date; the window was from one or two months up to almost a year. Finally, it was quite a large logistical move, over a distance of some 25miles, and involved a team of six, a five day plan, and the use of two large lorries and three smaller vans. A lot of the garden ornaments and sculptures were very heavy, as was some hardwood furniture.

" We invited four major removal companies to quote for our planned move. Britannia Lanes impressed us from the start, when the detail, professionalism and knowledge exhibited by Andreas Johannsen, who visited the site and prepared the quote, were most impressive. An initial list of goods was printed on-site, on the day of his visit, and the quotation was submitted quickly thereafter.

The team who moved us was polite, professional and a pleasure to meet.

At all times, the head office partenrship of Kate and Angus was helpful, and easy to contact.

I cannot fault Britannis Lanes in any aspect of their service. We are in a rented property at the moment, and hope to move again to a permanent home later this year. Britannia Lanes will again be our choice of removal company. "

relocation of 15 people from 3 bungalows to a purpose built ex care home, over a period of a week.

" As I am answering on behalf of the company that paid the bill but didn't meet with removers I am passing on the compliments of the care staff who were there during the move.
they stated the following: operatives engaged very well with the residents, they were polite helpful and overall did a very good job.

The only debate is re being asked to pay before the service is undertaken as usually its payment following ,and ,a deposit had been paid.
we are unsure why this was insisted upon and our finance systems are reluctant to pay upfront for services not yet received, so this was an unfortunate situation that , if we used your services again, we would need to clarify our position.

it asks at the end of your survey, would we recommend your firm to friends, yes because the removal team actually doing the job were excellent but no if payment terms are still pay before we do it or we will cancel the job !! "

The move was in 2 stages: from our home into storage and then 7 months later from storage into our new home. Our belongings filled 6 containers and just about fitted into one (huge)lorry. Some of our items were very heavy and bulky (2 settees - one being a bed settee) and an American type fridge/freezer). The latter was very difficult to manoeuvre and other than a slight tear in the kitchen flooring, which was quickly repaired by the crew, the item was transported without damage to our new home.

" This is the second time we have used Brittania Lanes (23 years apart) and it's really great to see they were as good the second time around and would recommend them again. The staff are all really friendly and professional and really understand how stressful moving home is. On one occasion we had just agreed a date to receive our goods out of storage and within minutes realised we had to cancel. Although an invoice had already been raised and we'd paid a cancellation premium, they were very understanding (and "human") and agreed to cancel the invoice without invoking the insurance. "

I have a small amount of good china and silverware and one or two ''good'' items of other things so always ask Britannia to pack. I have moved with them many times (about 10) and yet again they have succeeded in bringing everything from A to B without damage. A good crew (as usual) who will always offer an excellent service.

" From a two bedroom house in Sherborne to a two bedroom (smaller) flat in Woodstock. I assumed they would come early so I arose at a time I would usually consider quite impossible for a retired fellow like me. They turned up at 09.50 - I could have stayed recumbent for longer. Once started they were off, which was just as well as I had professional cleaners due at noon and felt it best to get at least one floor clear for them - this was achieved as the fellows made a special effort to leave the packing so as to complete the clearing of the bedrooms and bathrooms.

They are very efficient and of course practised in the mechanics of it all. I am similarly practised in the unpacking of china and glass and fragilities that clutter many of our lives and so was pleased to see reams (?) of paper being used. Lumberjacks have a lot to be grateful for with removers and their need for padding and protection. Of course when the removers unload everything at the end there is the Great Matter of unpacking boxes to deal with. It's a great joy to try and give as many empty boxes back to the team before they leave. It's a fleeting and unimportant emotion as there are always vastly more boxes left behind. But in due course they will get picked up.

I have used this company many times as said above and I would not change now. There's a small discount for repeat use. I make a point of asking for that - heavens I have spent a lot of money over the years and all saving helps.

The crews have always been good folk - professional and get on with it but with a sense of humour and a care for what they do. "

Our house sale completed within 4 weeks of receiving an offer, therefore the moving company was booked just 1 week prior to the move - they were very competitive on price and professional with the quotation process.

" On the day 4 fantastic chaps arrived with 2 smaller vans and a large one just after 9am, they had a quick look around and a chat over a cup of tea about what needed to be moved.
They set about loading our furniture all mattresses were covered and all our furniture was protected with covers - I drove to the new property while my husband stayed with the removal team.
In the afternoon they started to arrive at the new location and each item of furniture was placed in the room it needed to be in - they were very professional and all worked incredibly hard that day, they even moved some furniture around inside the new property for me so I could start to get comfortable.
I would highly recommend.
Britannia Lanes were very easy to deal with, the team they sent for our move were professional and pleasant.
All I had to be involved in was the location of our goods at the new property and keep a warm supply of tea and coffee.
They worked so hard that day and made our move relatively stress free, we could not have completed in one day without them.
After the team left all our furniture was in the right room, and so we could relax and think about unpacking boxes later. "

Our move from West Country to the Midlands was something we were dreading but Britannia were most helpful from first contact to final arrival.

" We cannot speak highly enough about Britannia. Office were extremely kind in helping with the paperwork etc. and the removal lads were all so helpful and understanding. We did most of our own packing which helped time wise but many things were left which they just took on and loaded. In all a stress free move which we had been dreading. "

Our move was going to be over 2 days as we were moving a distant away. I was quite apprehensive about it but as aoon as Jordan and Dan arrived they put me at ease. They were good fun but very hard working. When we arrived this end, another crew arrived and we were moved in very quickly. In all I thought that the move went really well.

" I was impressed from start to finish with the company and I felt that they put themselves out for us. We were in the process of buying this house for over 6 months and it all happened very quickly in the end. The guys doing the removals had to come down from Scotland and they would normally have gone home but they were very efficient at their job even though they must have been exhausted after such a long week.
We really couldn't have asked for more and as we arrived at our new house, another crew arrived and they were all very quick but careful at removing our property to each of the rooms. Many thanks to you all. "

We moved just 3 miles from Catcott to Stawell. We had a large victorian chimney pot that the guys took great care of.

" The guys turned up on time and intoduced themselves but I can't remember their names as it was such a hectic day. They got straight on with covering up the floors then loaded up within 3 hours. one of the chaps was from Dublin but had lived here for 23 years and I had a good chat with him as my wife is also from Ireland.
It was a very cold wet/snowy day and we had to wait to get the keys for the new house. once we got the keys the guys covered all the floors again and set to the task of unloading. They were all done before it got too dark and left us with neatly piled boxs. "

Contents packed and taken into storage for two months, and then delivered to new property.

" Only two issues:- 1) I thought I had made a provisional booking to have contents brought of storage but exchange and completion dates slipped, and I found there are 'no provisional bookings' and I was charged 30% of cost on cancelled date. 2) a ladder was not delivered so had to be brought the next day. Other than that good service. "

" The team were amazing: really friendly, prompt, and treated us like friends. Absolutely brilliant service. Our wardrobes caused them major problems, but they persevered, to their credit. And we still have two vertical wardrobes!

My only recommendation would be that a lot of people have money tied up in their move, so getting their hands on an upfront payment can be difficult. Perhaps a 50% upfront and 50% on completion would be beneficial? "
