Pack and move from a 4 bed family home into a rental property. Included moving a number of unique items (ie a large and heavy rocking horse).

"We were so impressed with Chappells. The team who did the packing and move were incredibly friendly, totally flexible and helpful and a real pleasure to have around the house for two days. The packing was done quickly but carefully and was superbly organised. They used two smaller vans instead of one large one, to enable us to begin moving quicker than planned, and as a result we had everything in hours earlier than we had expected. Not only that, but there were a few heavy items which we ended up changing our mind on where they needed to go, and the team were adamant that they wouldn't leave until they had moved everything we wanted, and we were completely happy with where things were - including moving two wardrobes back down the stairs. Moving from a flat in a high-rise building in London to a new apartment development in Cobham. We were moving out of a three-bedroom property to a two-bedroom property, but the two bedroom property had more square footage than the three bedroom one.

"The crew were always friendly, polite and patient and very hard-working. They were meticulous and thoroughly professional. Everything was done within the agreed time and the after-sales service such as picking up emptied boxes and helping to change the position of furniture in the new place was superb. They also showed a marked fondness for tea and jammy dodgers."

We had lived at our house for nearly 27 years and were quite anxious about the move in spite of having had a substantial clear-out beforehand.

"We very wisely as it turned out included their packing service in the overall price which we felt was very reasonable after asking around friends and family.

In the event what stood out for us was the outstanding team from Chappell's who made everything straightforward and smooth at both ends and were all very polite, careful, friendly and experienced/competent.

The team from arrived promptly each day and were without exception friendly, hard working, helpful and considerate to our needs.
The move went smoothly at both ends and the team exceeded our best expectations.

Moving overall is a stressful experience but Chappell's made their part in it as pleasant and stress free as possible. They have a great team who made this possible and were helpful and effective."

We moved 100 miles, with a fairly small amount of furniture and belongings for the size of flat and house we were moving from and to. Packing was done one day, with delivery the next day.

"We used this firm as they were the cheapest of 3 approached for quotes, although it was a matter of only around £150 difference - we felt that all the quotes were unreasonably high but we needed to use someone.
We paid for a full packing service and we would unpack.
I expected the crew to arrive at 8.30am at the latest - they arrived at 9.00am. They took what I felt was an inordinate amount of time to pack what was a moderate amount of furniture and belongings. They finished at 4.00pm. I had expected them to be finished by 2.30pm latest. They seemed to disappear for breaks and spent a lot of time chatting and vaping. I realise that if they are paid on a day rate it isn’t in their interest to finish early but I needed to get away as I was driving the 100 miles that day.
The next morning, having seen their arrival at 9am the previous day, I didn’t expect them to arrive particularly early. If I hadn’t had the experience of the day before I would have expected them to have set off at 7am to arrive around 9am. They arrived just after 11am.
They unpacked more quickly and took far fewer breaks - presumably so they could head home promptly.
Overall, the packing and unloading were carried out quite efficiently. After they left and I was unpacking boxes the next day I noticed some damage to a bookcase (a deep scuff) which I hadn’t seen before as there were boxes in front of it. Otherwise there was no damage.
The team were polite.
The paperwork stated that we should retain all packaging for collection by the company, or else we would be charged for it. After contacting them to let them know they could collect them, they said they wouldn’t be able to and that we should dispose of them ourselves.
Overall, whilst this wasn’t a bad experience (we have moved house many times) I would say that it wasn’t as efficient as some services we have had in the past, and definitely overpriced - however, no more than other companies in the area."

We are saddened to read this review, but cannot actually define what the problem was. The customer is always informed the arrival time will be approximately 9am–traffic allowing, and if we are going to be any later the customer will be notified. Our crews are trained to appreciate our customers’ belongings and treat everything with respect. The removal was carried out with the least amount of fuss and worry as we do appreciate that this is a very stressful time for our customers, we do all in our power to ease this situation. The crew never ‘drag out the day’ as our removals are meticulously planned around the allocation of days to pack and load and to arrive at the delivery address, taking into account when the customer will obtain keys.

Obviously our quote was competitive. As a professional removal company our charge is based on the services required. The customer accepted our quotation as this was comparable with other companies. Our Terms and Conditions, Summary of Insurance and Code of Practice were attached to the original quotation, and particular attention to clauses regarding insurance liability and time limit for claims were highlighted.

Customers are informed that boxes will be collected at our convenience and when we have a vehicle in the area. Due to the distance of the removal we realised we would not be in the area for some time, and suggested to the customer that to save taking up space in her new home she should either contact a local removal company to collect them or put them out for recycling.

Removal and short term storage of furniture and chattels to enable internal structural alterations and refurbishment

"2 staff attended site very promptly on the morning as planned.
Chappells had provided boxes and packing materials a few days earlier, and we had packed all of the cases (40). They packed these cases plus a number of items of furniture both large and small in their van.
The staff were very polite and thoroughly professional. They explained the process very clearly and handled all of our possessions with care.
These are now in storage for 2/3 months, and will be returned as soon as required. They did also advise us that we could retrieve any possessions from storage in the meantime, although this has not been necessary.
I am only sorry that I have forgotten their names but they delivered a thoroughly pleasant and professional service.

"Chappells Removals did an absolutely brilliant job - i cant rate them highly enough. They put in a lot of effort to get 3 lorry loads of items over. Packed well, and with no stress. We moved home on October 24th and the two gentlemen that took care of us were phenomenal. We had some very tricky items like our super wide and deep sofa''s that were a nightmare to get in when we bought them but the gents from Chappell''s dealt with it super quick and professional. Thet worked non stop and to an amazing time frame with a constant smile and at the same time staying super professional.

Removal from 5 bed house to 3 bed bungalow 5 minutes away.

"my first contact with the quotation was very helpful and straightforward. The 3 men who came to pack up my house were extremely efficient and very helpful. We were held up moving into my new bungalow waiting for money to go through! but the men were amazing and called for more men to help and they unpacked the vans and put boxes and furniture in at an amazing speed. They also put my office desk, shelves in garage and wardrobe together.

I moved out of my old house in Surrey and then a few months later into another one a few miles away.

"I thought Chappells were very good and I would definitely use them again. All the staff I dealt with were extremely polite and helpful. I left items in storage with them and they were delivered back to me in excellent condition - all extremely clean etc. I could not even tell they had been in storage for several months so the conditions in the warehouse must be very good. I would definitely recommend Chappells' for removals and storage."

Move from 2-bed flat to 2-bed house, including packing. Properties approx 20min drive apart.

"We moved with Chappell's Removals.. they were very flexible as we didn't know until two days before our booked moving date whether we would be moving into our new home or if we would need to store our belongings in their warehouse.

Thankfully we were able to move direct in and they provided excellent service packing all our things very well and moving everything successfully. We had no damaged items so were very happy. The two guys doing the move were very accommodating and professional - they offered to leave us some furniture (as they were packing the day before) so we could still eat / watch TV etc.

When we got to the new house they even offered to move the furniture around a different way when it looked like it wasn't fitting well in the living room.. they didn't just dump and run, they wanted to make sure we were happy.
