Scottish Building Services Approved Certifier

SBSC exists to support the Scottish building services industry delivery of the Certification requirements of The Building (Scotland) Act 2003, which introduced a new building standards system for Scotland that raises standards and simplifies the approval of many design and construction activities for building owners, verifiers (local authorities) and the industry.

The 2003 Act allows competent individuals to be appointed as Approved Certifiers of Design and Approved Certifiers of Construction. Properly qualified professionals who become Approved Certifiers have the authority to certify work they do as part of a building warrant is compliant with building regulations.

There are more than 1700 Approved Certifiers in Scotland and a comprehensive list is available online from the Scottish Government Building Standards Division website. This is the only authoritative list of all Approved Certifiers in Scotland and is updated weekly with information provided by Scheme Providers.
