A home improvement contract who was refusing to rectify selected work. I was looking for a postal address and I wanted to know it anyone else was having problem with them.

"Trading standards attended promptly, and gave good advice. However I’m still waiting to hear whether or not they have heard any more about this firm. I engaged another contractor to fix the shady work. I want a postal address for this original contractor. I want to pursue him for the extra costs I incurred."

"I phoned about advice. I pay a monthly deal for a cooker insurance and have it in writing. Trading standards said to phone the company back as I had a case against them. I had to phone T/S back if it wasn’t resolved. I never need to. T/S is a handy service to get advice from and find out where you stand in some situations, rather than being taken in by companies."

I became aware that the contractor carrying out work on my house was not prepared to honour the guarantee, and terms he had given. I reported this to Trading Standards for their records. The company concerned had no address.

"The Trading Standard officer arrived the day after my phone call and on time. He took time to record details and explained my rights i.e. 7 day cooling off period. He asked many questions, and gave me advice about door stop callers. He left stickers for my use. I was very happy with Trading Standards response to my call."
