Baldwin County schools superintendent catches heat from readers (Press-Register Sound Off)Baldwin County Schools Superintendent Dr. Alan T. Lee (file photo).

Baldwin blues: The superintendent of the Baldwin County school system (Dr. Alan T. Lee) arrived here as if it were the Second Coming. He looked at the employees of Baldwin County and the school system as if we were nothing but a bunch of barefooted, toothless idiots, and he had come to save the day. What did he do? He immediately hired three executive people to do his job for him, provided them vehicles, then he ran out and cried that we re going to close down schools if we didn t raise taxes again. And what did he do with that money? He gave ,000 per year to the coalition so that they could hire their own president, created a 0,000-plus safety job, but yet he won t allow glass to be on the windows in Orange Beach. He just continues to spend, spend, spend, and cry, cry, cry that we can t build any new schools. I think that there s a school board that s been spending a lot of time in Colorado, because they have no clue how horrible employee morale is.

Special rates?: Just an idea. I thought maybe the water and the gas companies could give special rates for this month, being as though we had to leave the water dripping. You know, it wasn t like a leak or anything. We had to leave it dripping, otherwise there would be busted pipes. So, it seems like they could give special rates.

Legal definition: I thought driving under the influence and killing someone was regarded as murder, not manslaughter.

Report the port: Mobile is one of the countries most important ports, and yet it seldom gets mentioned in the paper any more. As of today, one of the largest container ships in the world came into port, but I doubt if we ll get any mention of it in the paper. I would like to see more reports of what happens in the port.

Man up, Chris: Chris Christie got caught in the bridge scandal, and he said today on TV that he s sad, humiliated and embarrassed. Yeah, and he should be, but all he s done so far that I can see is throw all of the people who work for him under the bus, and blame all of them. Way to man up, Chris Christie. You should be the one who mans up. The buck stops with you.

True colors: When President Obama was elected, he kept Republican Robert Gates as defense secretary, and all the time Mr. Gates served, he was really complimentary of the president. He even said the president s decision to go after bin Laden was one of the most courageous decisions he s ever seen made in the White House. But now that he s out, he wants to sell a book, so he s turned on the president and vilified him in every way he can. That goes to show what kind of a person Gates is.

Medicinal purposes: Legalizing marijuana for medicine will sure open the door up for all of these athletes to use it during their time in sports, starting in high school and on up until they re old.

Adios, America: Yeah, all of you liberals who want to open the border up and let all of these Mexicans in, and legalize them and let them vote, do y all realize what s going to happen? We won t be celebrating the Fourth of July any more. We re going to be celebrating Cinco de Mayo. This country is going to become Mexican, and look what they did to Mexico. Americans better wise up. I mean, you can let a few in, but you let them pour across the border by the millions, and then give them the right to vote-Cinco de Mayo, goodbye Fourth of July.

Don t flatter yourself: Why is it that on the Channel 10 news, the reporters are always bragging on each other? They ve got a segment set aside so that they are trying to convince us about how good they are. It s not about them; the only reason I watch them is because it s the local news. They don t have anything to do with it. I wish they would please quit.

Learn to turn: Can somebody please explain to me why nobody uses turn signals anymore? Do they not have them on their cars? Do they not know what they re for? Or, are they just too ignorant to use them?
