Reports of former Alabama offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier making a "top five" salary among college assistants in his new position at Michigan are premature and inaccurate, Wolverines athletic director Dave Brandon told reporters in Ann Arbor on Friday.

Terms of Nussmeier's deal at Michigan have not been released and a contract has not been drafted yet, Brandon said, .

Nussmeier will not make a higher salary than Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, who makes a base salary of 1,400, .

Both and reported that Nussmeier's salary would put him in the top five among college football coordinators.

"I don't know where those reports come from," Brandon told reporters. "I don't even know if those people know what coordinators are even being paid, because in some cases, that's real hard information to get.

"We put together a package for Doug that's consistent with what we've done here at Michigan. And you'll all get a copy of it when it's done. But we don't have a contract yet."

At Alabama, Nussmeier made 0,000 in 2012 and 0,000 this past season. His contract with the Crimson Tide was extended after the 2012 season through 2015.

Clemson's Chad Morris, Alabama's Kirby Smart and LSU's John Chavis are among the highest-paid assistants in college football.
