-- Kiehl Frazier's long and winding road at Auburn has reached its end.

The quarterback-turned-safety will transfer from the Tigers in an effort to play quarterback at another school, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn confirmed today. Frazier's landing spot appears to be Ouachita Baptist, a Division II school in his home state of Arkansas.

"He s always been nothing but a winner with his attitude," Malzahn said. "We ve talked through the year. He just felt like at this time that he wanted to go somewhere and play quarterback. We wish him nothing but the best. He ll do well."

Frazier wants to transfer to a school where he will have a shot at playing quarterback immediately, said Josh Floyd, Frazier's former high school coach. News of Frazier looking at Ouachita Baptist, a small school in Arkadelphia, Ark., was first reported by 247sports.com and confirmed by AL.com through Floyd.

"Yes, looks like that's probably going to happen," Floyd told AL.com.

Frazier's brother, Jed Beach, plays offensive line at OBU.

Frazier could opt to transfer to an FCS team and play immediately but he could also sit out a season by transferring to an FBS team in the SEC or elsewhere. The junior has a redshirt season available.

, opting instead to move to boundary safety. He changed jersey numbers, too, but only played one possession -- Arkansas State's final drive in Auburn's 38-9 victory on Sept. 7 -- on defense.

He moved back to offense in Week 3 and played quarterback on several run plays against Mississippi State and LSU. Malzahn hoped to .

"At the end of the day he's still a quarterback," Floyd said "He's a quarterback more than anything else."

Frazier played some quarterback during a 45-10 victory against Florida Atlantic and had six carries for 26 yards, including a 13-yard gain. The 13-yard run was the former quarterback's longest run since 2011.

The former four-star quarterback out of high school was named Auburn's starter in August 2012, but struggled at the position. He was benched after five starts in which he completed only 53.4 percent of his passes for 753 yards and two touchdowns with eight interceptions.

Frazier moved to safety in August when it became clear he would not be the Tigers' starting quarterback. He played some Wildcat quarterback early in the season and saw time on special teams. He moved to receiver midway through the season but did not record a catch.
