PELHAM, Alabama -- The Frozen Tide's hockey game tonight against the U.S. Army (Fort Benning) has been cancelled and in its place there will be a Crimson vs. White scrimmage game from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Following the scrimmage at Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena, the rink will be open to paying fans for an hour-long skate with members of the Tide hockey team. Proceeds from the scrimmage and charity skate will go to the military veterans sled hockey program.

"The Army team has been impacted by a number of recent team member deployments that made playing this Pelham game difficult for them," assistant coach and general manager David Noble said. "We wish their team well and hope we can renew our games next season."

Noble said that the scrimmage game gives fans the chance to get to know the Tide's hockey players better.

"We hope that the scrimmage and the opportunity to skate with the Frozen Tide team to benefit a very worthy veterans sled hockey program will be a fun and interesting alternative for Alabama hockey fans," he said.

The Tide will be back in competitive play next weekend for the annual Iron Cup against Auburn. To learn more about the Frozen Tide, .
