The Florida State USBC Women's Bowling Association will conduct its 2014 state championship tournament in Fort Myers, and prospective entrants should be making plans to complete and submit official entry blanks prior to the upcoming deadlines.

The tournament will open on the weekend of May 3-4, and after taking the May 10-11 weekend off because of Mother's Day, action will continue for four subsequent weekends, until the event comes to its conclusion on Sunday, June 8.

The four-player team competition will be hosted by Bowland Cape Coral Lanes, and the singles and doubles events will be held at Pin Street at Fort Myers.

All tournament entrants must be a current member of a local USBC association and the Florida women's association, or they must have or purchase a current USBC unattached membership card.

Entry fee has been set at per woman per event, plus optional scratch and handicap (100 percent of 220) all-events available at each. In addition, entrants can enter optional scratch competition in team, singles and doubles for an additional per event.

There will be a premium on early submission of entries, because if entry blanks are received by tournament officials prior to Feb. 1, the regular aforementioned fees will be in effect. However, entries received between Feb. 1 and the final deadline of March 1 will require an additional processing fee.

Competition will take place in one division, and squads will begin at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on each of the tournament dates, with bowlers able to enter either team event or singles-doubles on each of the squads.

Entering averages must have been established in USBC-certified leagues, and entrants shall use their highest average of 21 games or more as of the end of the 2012-13 winter season. If a bowler has no such average, a 2013 summer average may be used, or if a bowler has neither such average, she may enter with an average established as of April 1, 2014.

Complete rules and information are contained on the official tournament entry blanks, available at most Florida bowling centers. As an option, you may view or download an official entry blank by clicking here.
