Over the course of 3 visits ... - carry out EICR - change out 2 x faulty skts - replace 2x physically broken skts @ hallway (1g) and lounge (2g) - resolve high r1+r2 reading @ lounge skt - replace skt (same skt/point as above) - resolve high r1+r2 reading @ lounge light - investigate - resolve high r1+r2 reading @ kitchen 1g skt - replace skt - blank off switch @ bathroom - connect through and install blank - install IP rated LED CCT bathroom light - install adequate bonding (10mm) to mains water stopcock - replace 2x physically broken pendants @ hallway and lounge - install new 2g skt @ lounge as discussed - install new 2g skt @ kitchen for w/m as discussed - install 18th edition CU with individual RCBO and surge protection - issue Electrical Installation Certification - supply and install new inline extraction fan to bathroom/loft - renew bathroom pull cord * Price is the cumulative total over the 3 required visits.

"As a result of recurring issues with my hot water tank I suspected there might be problems with some of the electrics in my flat and found CDM Electrical via the local Council's Trusted Trader site. I sent a message via the site and Chris McGhee replied promptly and arranged to come and have a look.

Following the initial visit, Chris arranged to carry out a full EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) check. Once that was carried out (the next week), there were a number of issues that needed addressing to bring the electrics in my flat up to the current required levels. Chris explained clearly what needed to be done, provided a quote which I agreed to and carried out the required work the following week, bringing my flat up to the current required standards and giving me much needed peace of mind in the process.

During the course of this work we discussed the possibility of Chris fitting a replacement extractor fan in my bathroom. Due to unforseen circumstances I had to put this on hold for a while but once I contacted Chris again, he arranged to come up and see what the job would actually entail, provided a quote and once agreed, came up and carried out the work.

I have had a number of rather poor experiences with some other tradesmen/companies in the past which has made me rather nervous/wary of contacting tradesmen/companies. However, I found dealing with Chris an absolute pleasure. Communication (both by email and in person) was always polite, professional and clear. Quotes were provided quickly and arranging for work to be carried out was also quick and straightforward to sort out. Prices appeared very fair (based on conversation with colleagues/friends etc about similar sorts of work) and I would happily contact Chris again if I was needing any electrical work done, and have already recommended him to work colleagues."

Chris replaced one of my kitchen sockets as it had no power going to it, he was very quick in figuring out what the issue was and it turns out there was heat damage to the socket. Chris replaced the socket very quickly and gave me some information as to what to do next with my current fuse board as it could be that in the future I need this replaced.

Installed extractor fan in ensuite. Found out previous one not wired correctly and proceeded to correct this as it was dangerous. This involved changing wiring from attic. Also repaired two lights one underneath kitchen unit and one in gantry of lights in en suite

"Chris arrived at house on time. Examined all the work required and proceeded to carry out repairs mentioned above. He was careful to explain what he was doing and went out of his way to ensure wiring of extractor fan was now properly done. I have asked him to come back to carry out another small job. Although the repairs were not substantial he was not concerned about this. At outset explained all his charges."

He maintained regular contact with me regarding the proposed date for the work to commence and arranged to com within one week from initial contact. Chris came to install a new kitchen oven and hob and replace a bathroom fan.

"Chris was thoroughly professional throughout. The hob didn't quite fit the hole in the kitchen worktop so Chris went above and beyound with his carpentry to enlarge the hole to a suitable size.

He also advised the previous bathroom fan was underpowered for what it need to do. He sourced and installed the new fan as well as sorting out the extractor pipe in the loft."

Fitted a new double socket under the sink for two appliances. One was not working.
Fitted my new TV in my bedroom which involved re-directing the aerial and the wiring from one room to the other and fitting a new double socket.
 

"Chris was absolutely super. Nothing was too much trouble. The TV exchange sounds straightforward but it was anything but! He planned it out and came up with options for me to choose. Their went ahead and double checked everything along the way. Made sure my TV was working then tidied up and put everything away for me (the old TV had been fitted inside a wardrobe and the wiring and aerial were fitted in the wardrobe next room!!)

Chris sorted out poor wiring in my kitchen and installed proper switches do I could access and switch off appliances. He came at short notice and sorted out a multitude of problems under a challenging time frame - I was getting a new kitchen appliance delivered and installed that day and work needed done before it arrived.

"Chris was very reassuring that the issues could be sorted and very understanding of time constraints. Definitely made this stressful time less stressful and work is of a very good standard - very experienced and knowledgeable for sure.

"Chris came round a Monday to give us the quote, he was thorough in looking at the best way and thorough in the explanation of how it would go ahead. He then got back to us very quick to let us know pricing and when he could do it. When coming round to put in the sockets he made sure we were happy with where things would go and talked us through step by step. We had old strip lights removed from our kitchen ceiling and new downlights put in. Also the hall and kitchen lights would go on together so Chris put in a new switch to separate this. We are in a flat so there is no access to the floor or a roof space above.

"We have used CDM Electrical since moving to Dundee 5 years ago. We recently moved to Arbroath and worried we would need to find someone else. However when we contacted CDM he confirmed that he did cover Arbroath so we were delighted. Chris came out and discussed what we wanted done gave us some positive feedback and ideas. He provided a quote a few days later which we agreed and a date was set for the work.
Chris turned up as expected and carried out all the work discussed. He is very professional, tidy and good with communicating. I would never consider using another electrician.
