Complete remodelling of internal layout of the bungalow, fitting new kitchen and bathrooms. Building large Orangery to the rear of the property including bi-fold doors and lantern roof. Laying new patio area and paths

"After getting quotes from four different builders to totally upgrade the house we had just bought, we decided on Garland Construction due to the professionalism and helpfulness of Josh Garland who was able to help us realise every aspect of the work we wanted to do. His team of men always arrived promptly, consistently worked hard and were a pleasure to have in our home. They were very friendly and polite, always respecting us and our property. We got along with all of them very well indeed, and they were always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we were happy with the work.
They were always helpful to us, especially when my husband was taken ill.
We were very lucky to have chosen Garland Construction to do our building work as we have had no problems with the work while they were doing it, but importantly, we have had no problem with anything at all since they finished.
I would highly recommend Garland Construction to anyone who needs a good builder, we could not have asked for a better service."

Demolish existing outbuilding, remove some internal walls. Build a new large open plan kitchen and utility room

"We are very happy with the extension that Josh and his team built for us.
From our first contact with Josh, and meeting him to discuss our plans, we were impressed by his knowledge and friendly attitude. His quote, which he delivered quickly was detailed and clear to understand so we could see exactly where our money was going.
Work started on the date that Josh gave to us in December 2020 and from the first day work progressed well and steadily. Even though there were some issues with supplies caused by the pandemic, Josh ensured that we felt as little impact of it as possible by being organised and flexible.
Josh and his team, Luke and Liam, were all fantastic to have around. They were always cheerful, happy to answer the daftest questions, presentable, organised and at the end of every day the site was left tidy and secure.
The quality of the work was excellent. Some of the details are even better than we were expecting from the plans. This is down to Josh having pride in his work and wanting to do the best for his customers.
I have no hesitation in recommending Garland Construction and if I have another building project in the future, they will be building it.

External brickwork repair work. Grinding out old mortar, fitting Helix bars, repairing cracks and re-pointing.

"We recently had some external brickwork undertaken by Garland Construction at Granary Court in the centre of York. From start to finish we cannot praise the engagement, communications and workmanship from Josh and the team. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the work but also it was such a refreshing change to find a company that does what it says it will, at a competitive fair price, when they say it will.

Josh and his team are very experienced, polite and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and our job was completed to a high standard. If you are looking for building, repair, maintenance or construction work in the York and surrounding area, I would definitely recommend Garland Construction as your number 1 choice."

To rectify faulty wiring to an electric cooker

"On the face of it our job required an electrician and a joiner to work together to locate a problem with our wiring that could have been anywhere between the cooker and (in old money!) the fuse box. This entailed taking down cupboards and could have meant taking up floorboards/ cutting into the ceiling. The first thing that impressed me was that Josh Garland was happy to take on the job as he had the appropriate staff but stressed that I might be able to do the job cheaper by engaging the people individually. I very much appreciated his candour. Having decided to proceed, Josh arranged for a electrician (Joe - Home Works Electrical) to visit the following morning to assess the job. This is exactly what happened and Josh, Joe & a joiner returned that afternoon to carry out the work. Sadly there was an unforeseen complication but Joe returned promptly to carry out the work. In total there was only 6 days from first contact to completion of work and was only that long because of the unforeseen issue.
In short I am very impressed with the quality, efficiency,competitive pricing and communications from both Joe and Josh.
Clearly Garland Construction is one of the few companies for which truly no job is too small. Great communcations and reliability.
Garland Construction clearly has a strong commitment to good old fashioned quality of service!!!!"

"Both Josh and Luke did an excellent job on my recent extension. I looked around and found my own trades so only used them for brickwork but I would have happily let them do the whole job from start to finish. I made a few changes to the original plans and they were both happy to accommodate my changes as nothing was too much bother. I would highly recommend Garland Construction Ltd."

Building a garden wall with concrete cappings on the wall and copings on the piers.

"Josh did a fantastic job and I would recommend him to anybody who needs a bricklayer. After I contacted him he arranged to come round to discuss the job and provide a quote. He called within a few days, arrived on time and was very helpful, explaining what needed to be done and suggesting different options that could reduce the cost. As a result of this I demolished the existing wall and Josh disposed of the rubble. He started the work on the day and at the time that we had agreed and did a really good job, going beyond what I could have reasonably expected by fixing an existing fence to the new wall. When the work was completed everything was cleared away/ cleaned and you couldn’t tell that he had been. The finished wall looked great and the final bill was as we had originally agreed."

A brick lean to extension at the rear of our property with bifold doors and skylights. Also alterations to frontage and hallway and relocation of downstairs WC.

"Garland Construction Ltd have been absolutely fantastic and we are very glad we chose them for our project.
They have been reliable, friendly and trustworthy from start to finish.
A clear quote was provided free of charge and all stages of the project were discussed abs explained so we were always well informed.

Concrete base for a proposed summerhouse, extending driveway space by reducing brick wall and building new end pillar.

"Garland Construction Limited have completed work for us before and as before we had an entirely positive experience.

Josh communicated with us throughout the process from the initial work request, the site inspection, quotation and work.

Josh and Luke were very polite and friendly and were very patient with the younger members of the family who were understandably curious about the process.

All mess was cleaned up by the team and they politely requested use of the outside water supplies etc - no assumptions were made.

Social distancing was observed and we felt very safe the whole time.

The quality of the finish and the work was excellent as usual and we are very pleased with the alterations to our property"
