It is harder to rewire an old sansdstone flat with lath and plaster ceilings / coving - this is the reason the lights had been left undone by previous owners.
The lights were previously wired in lead cable from around 60 years ago- it was good for my apprentice to encounter this older wiring when we were decomissioning it.

"I cannot recommend a.b.c. Electrical (Stewart and his son) highly enough. They have been extremely professional and reliable over the many years they have been providing their services to myself, in previous properties, and to other members of my family.
From first contact, to written quote, the confirmed date for the job, right up to the successful completion, everything was done to my satisfaction.
But as well as a job well done, Stewart also identified an issue with the earthing of my property and engaged Scottish Power on my behalf to have it resolved, without any cost to me.
Stewart also ensures he uses the best products available, whilst still providing excellent value for money.
And the final touch, they came to the job with cakes from Greggs for their customer...nobody else ever does that:)

Inspection of work and safety of electrics after a kitchen fire. Re-wiring of socket and removal of burned/damaged wiring.

"The guys came out to sort my problem after a fire left us devastated and without any power to the home.

My faith in any tradespeople had been shaken off the back of our recent disaster, but for the first time in ages I actually feel safe and reassured in my home.

Can't speak highly enough of the quality and professionalism from the guys at abc electrical.

Rewire of bungalow including. Replacing consumer unit, loft light, p.i.r. front door light, mains smoke detector and moving telephone wire.

"Stewart made everything very clear ie work to be done and cost. We had to decant the house for a few days while work was being done due to the dusty nature of the job. We arrived back a wee bit early and to be fair the score I have given for tidy is because they really had no time to do a good tidy up. We said we would manage it. The work completed is excellent and the consumer unit clearly labelled no more guessing there. We were called whenever Stewart needed to discuss what he had found and any action agreed.we are delighted with the job and more importantly we know our home is now SAFE.
We received the certificates and guarantee a few days later as expected. Would have no hesitation in recommending ABC electrical to anyone looking for a good electrician, he certainly knows his stuff. We will be getting him back next year to replace light in the new soffits while they are being renewed. No better recommendation than that. Thanks Stewart."

We were delighted to carry out the work.
A rewire is always a messy job and we were able to provide plastic backed cotton dust sheets prior to the work starting which we collected a few days after finishing (nicely folded and packed up!)
We prefer to do rewires in empty properties as there are safety issues in occupied properies (especially with pets) so were happy that the client went away for the week.

Advised via email of suitable replacement for current shower model and removed old model and installed new model.

"After being stressed all week with my electric shower failing to work and only giving out cold water I found ABC Electrical via Google and immediately stood out as it's the only local electrician company with more than 4 stars on Google reviews and with plenty of reviews to build an opinion on. I emailed Stewart and called next day and was advised to email afew things about my shower issue and he sent on some suitable replacements from Screw Fix for different budgets. He came out the same day I collected the replacement I'd went with and installed it in place of my old shower in less than an hour - a clean quick job and total life saver and even gave me some tips on how to make my replacement last longer! Such a lovely family run business and such genuinely lovely people - would definitely use again in future and recommend to all my friends and family 😊😊👍"

Full rewire of 1960''s 3 bedroom semi-detached bungalow. Also had supply provided to stand alone garage.

"ABC Electrical were contacted to quote for rewiring a 3 bedroom property. On arrival for a free estimate, they surveyed the property, highlighted areas that were in urgent need of update (ancient and messy fusebox, suspended wire to the garage) and provided a rough estimation of the rewire.

On returning to do a complete quote, including for additional sockets and modification of kitchen supplies, the original quote for the basic rewire was honoured. At no point was there any pressure to buy more expensive items or undertake any unnecessary work, while providing frank and helpful advice. The flat fee for additional items made it very easy to calculate cost and meant there were no hidden charges; the price was spelled out very clearly with a easy to follow breakdown.

During the work, it became apparent that more of the kitchen would need to be removed to allow the modifications to occur. Prior to starting, I was contacted and asked for the best way to proceed.

Work was planned to last approximately a week, Monday to Friday, but due to the size of the job, ran over into the Saturday for testing. I was asked to come to the house during the testing to go through the new set up and to check that the work was as expected. Through out the process I was kept well informed of what was happening.

Due to walls being cut into, there was a fair amount of brick dust after the work was complete. However, having seen the state of the house during the work, it was clear that a valiant effort had been made to clean up. The vast majority of the rubbish generated was bagged and left outside, with only the odd little bit of wire left inside. I was quite impressed by the effort made.

Additionally, ABC Electrical contacted Scottish Power to come and replace the cable head supplying the property as it was damaged. This is a free service from Scottish Power, but it was much appreciated of ABC to undertake the organisation of this.

At the end of the work, everything that had been discussed had been completed. Due to the removal of the kitchen during the work, there was a small extra labour fee that had been discussed and accepted prior to the work starting, but beside that, the final cost was exactly as per the quote.

I would definitely recommend ABC Electrical for undertaking electrical work and wouldn't hesitate to contact them again if I required further work done."

The cable head was in a poor state and leaking tar, this was attended to by Scottish Power.
We find it makes it easy for clients to quote works and extras on a price per point basis as it makes things easier to follow.

"Stewart and son were called to my place to check on an electrical fault with my boiler at my new home, they were very professional at all times, friendly and helpful to say the least. He ended up helping me out with finding out who my electrical supplier was and saved me £90!! Which I was being overcharged. Brilliant guys would definitely recommend."

"They worked on the old shower to make sure it really did need replacing and when they were satisfied it did they helped me to choose a replacement which they immediately procured and fitted. They were helpful and explained things clearly to me. I was impressed with their efficiency and am totally satisfied with the outcome including the price which was more than fair.

I called Sky with her approval while we were there and went through the options with the Sky operative. Sky then arranged a Sky engineer to call when it suited the client
