"I only dealt with Bertie. Robin showed me round one property and came to see my property once where she acted professionally at all times.

A valuation of over 600,000.00 was given initially. I then suggested marketing at o.i.e.o 590,000 it was agreed. (anymore would have been a bonus)

Butler Sherborne sold my house for 580,000.00 which is not what they had valued it at however I am not unhappy with the price.

Bertie asked me if I would mind a SOLD nameboard erected I instructed him that I didn't want one put up. (This is for my own personal reasons - all of my business for the last 13 years has been within East Oxford. He agreed, very shortly afterwards I had customers and friends coming up and congratulating me on the sale of my house and that they would be sorry to see me go and that they would have to look for a new builder! When I enquired how they new I was told that they had received an addressed mailing with a picture of my house and a SALE AGREED Heading.

This is what I would expect from an underhanded Estate Agent something which I hadn't expected from Bertie which now leads me to not entirely trust Butler Sherborne.

The Only other issue I had with Bertie was when trying to purchase a property through Bertie again information I requested took weeks and weeks, I was "kept up to speed" by phoning Bertie weekly and was given the reason that the Sellers hadn't given him the Gas Bill (It was only a Gas bill for heavens sake - how difficult can it be). Whilst I was still expecting the information I drove past the property and saw a "Butler Sherborne SOLD" notice on it. I then had to phone Bertie when again he didn't come forward with the information that the property had been SOLD until I enquired about it, I was then told that the owner had sold it privately. Make of that what you will. I do not mind missing out but again don't think that Bertie or Butler Sherborne acted professionally in this matter."

Thank you for your review, for which we are of course disappointed but also feel that these issues could have been brought to our attention during the sale process and were not.

Regarding the valuation when Bertie provided you advice regarding property values, the figures provided were given in good faith, truly reflected available information about your property and current market conditions, all of which were supported by comparable evidence. As you say, you were happy with the price we secured on your behalf which was in fact 97% of the price valued.

Regarding the mailing that was sent out, we apologise for this whole heartedly - this is a process followed as part of our marketing campaign. We have amended our in house systems to ensure that permission is sought prior to any mail out taking place. This is in addition to explaining our marketing campaigns at the time of valuation and instruction.

It was our understanding that although the Iffley Road property was sold you were pursuing interests elsewhere.

We feel that our relationship was maintained to the highest possible standard throughout the sale and that we acted professionally and in good faith throughout.

E.g. A boiler service history was requested several times, and was never supplied. Turns out the boiler broke down shortly after purchase. After which time nobody was willing to pursue this issue because the property was bought "as seen"."
