"In general I was very pleased with the service I received. Some members of staff came to the house before it was put on the market so they would know what they were selling. There was only one occasion when a different member of staff came to show the house to potential buyers. He had never seen the house, didnít know what to point out and asked me some very stupid questions. He never came again. After that I always had the same person showing potential buyers. This made the situation so much less stressful than it could have been.
I have put n/a for the question ĎDid the firm show you evidence of their membership of an Ombudsman schemeí. I cannot remember if they did or didnít.
When I received emails I did not appreciate being addressed by my first name and not Mrs ...
I was very pleased with the solicitor I used. He was recommended by Farmer and Dyer and he did a superb job.
On the day I moved a member of staff was supposed to collect the key from me as soon after 9am as possible. He was off sick that day. I had a 10 hour journey to make and if I hadnít phoned Iím not sure how long Iíd have had to wait.
However, if anyone in Caversham asked me to recommend an estate agent, I would suggest they use Farmer and Dyer.

"The whole of the Farmer and Dyer team are incredibly helpful, knowledgable and very professional. They went above and beyond in trying to help us secure our purchase. Unfortunately we did not end up purchasing the house through F&D in the end as the structural survey highlighted subsidence.

However if i was ever to sell a house there is no other agent i would use. Additionally, they would always be my preferred agent to purchase from.

"Overall, I was very impressed. I should explain that I was an "absentee" seller in that I live in Western Canada (time difference -7 hours) which made communication a little more challenging. Nonetheless, I was updated by email regularly and via telephone when appropriate e.g. discussion of price adjustments etc. All viewings were handled smoothly in my absence, they recommended a solicitor to me, and I was informed every step of the way regarding process as house sale in the UK is very different from house sale in Canada.

While the process took longer than I had anticipated, this was no fault of the agent. In fact the sale in most regards went very smoothly. I would certainly use Farmer & Dyer again."

All my queries were answered professionally and to my satisfaction. George especially was most helpful from the initial viewing, then a second viewing with my youngest son, and then managing to arrange a third viewing for my eldest son at the last minute.

Property to sell: A 1950s semi-detached house in Emmer Green, Reading. Well built by quality builders and well maintained by four owners since 1952. Our estate agents for this transaction were Farmer & Dyer and my wife and I were very well impressed with just a few viewings until a good offer came our way within a couple of weeks. Clearly F&D know their clients and potential clients well. Better still the chain was short and uncomplicated and we moved into our new home within two months. Property to buy: Again our agent here was Farmer & Dyer and we were admirably taken through the purchase process and several show-rounds without fuss and with good grace by their Manager, George Hodder. All our questions were answered and requests fulfilled to our satisfaction. F&D were brilliant ! We have moved houses six times over the space of fifty years and this move was by far the easiest for us, thanks in good part to the services of Farmer & Dyer.
