I had a bathroom refit

"Kris and Kat Ltd undertook my bathroom refit in August 2022. Initially I was very happy, a few snagging issues, mirror wrong way round, door wouldn't close and walls did not match, I was ok with this and the first 2 were corrected. I didn't mind the wall not matching as it was behind the door.

In Dec I noticed that the flooring was starting to split. I contacted the company and was told that the flooring was not covered under the guarantee. It took near 6 months of correspondence, with trading standards now involved, for the company to come and rectify the problem. The floor was uneven. They tried to rectify it by putting blocks of flooring under the flooring, and only replaced half the floor. This meant that the floor didn't match as one half was 6 months older than the other. There was also a major imperfection with their work which was quite visible and I was unhappy about this, as it made the work look unprofessional. Definitely not what I paid for.

They refused again to fix the problem and only after trading standards were called again, did they agree to properly sort the floor.

In Aug they returned to fix the issue whilst I was at work, when I got home from work I could not believe my eyes. The door was taken off and only a quarter of the floor was complete. Plywood was also placed on top of the uneven floor instead of removing the initial uneven floor. On contacting the company I was told they had 'run out' of flooring and had to order more. I also contacted a tradesperson and he confirmed that the plywood should not have been put on top of the old flooring. This has elevated the flooring and created a 'step'. I got my tradesperson to hang the door back on and we both could not believe what had happened. 1.5ins had been sawn off the bottom of the door. I can only conclude this latest 'fix' was a spiteful act by the company with no intention to fix the problem.

I asked the company not to set foot in my house again and they have offered me £200 to get the work done myself. I have had the work completed to my satisfaction as advised to by Trading Standards and it has cost over £500. The company are refusing to reimburse me and I am having to pursue this through Small Claims Court.

This company may have initially done a good job, but the aftercare is horrendous, they do not know how to fix problems that arise and have become abusive when being asked to refund what I have paid out. I regret having employed them in the first place, and would advise others to steer clear of them. I have been blocked on Facebook for leaving reviews as they do not want negative comments made about them.

I have photos and correspondence to back up everything I have said as I'm sure the company will come back with excuse after excuse."
