I downsized and move half a mile; I did the majority of boxing-up myself. I had a lot of garden plants and shrubs in pots to be moved. Unfortunately, the company failed to move a number of these pots of the day of my move. The company chose to make arrangements with the new owners of my previous house but completely failed to discuss this with me. I had made my booking with Chapman Removals; however, due to changes within the company, the move was carried out by Fox Removals: had I known this, I would have gone elsewhere.

"Before making my choice of removal company, I sought advice from people I know. I was told that Chapman Removals were very good and thorough but to avoid Fox Removals. I chose Chapman Removals; however, they are now part of Fox Removals and appeared to work to Fox Removal standards. The gentlemen who carried out the removal were prompt, friendly, polite and helpful; they worked extremely hard.

The first issue arose when the second vehicle took longer than expected to arrive. At one point, I was sat on a neighbour's wall, watching the new owner's possessions being moved in, whilst the remainder of my possessions were sat on the driveway. Having been told that the second vehicle was on the way from Newport (some 12/15 miles away), it eventually arrived approximately 2 hours later.

The second issue arose as not all of my garden pots were collected from my previous property on the day of my move. When I queried this with the removal men at my new property, enquiries were made and I was told that they would arrive the next day (Saturday) or on Monday, and that this had been agreed with the new owners of my old property. At no time was this discussed or agreed with me.

I queried this Saturday morning: I was told that the pots would be delivered that day. I had already made plans to go out so came home to find the pots left outside the front of my house, rather than delivered to the back garden. An offer was made to help me move the pots but it wasn't appropriate to leave the pots on the public pavement for any length of time. When I queried this at length, I was told that there had been a breakdown of communication.

On a day as stressful as a moving day, I would have expected a company of repute to have provided better communication. I was told that Fox Removals did not have a mobile number for me. However, they could have contacted me through one of the removal gentlemen that I spent the day with; similarly, there was no email to explain that they had tried to contact me so had made alternative arrangements in lieu of being able to speak to me. I felt extremely let down by Fox Removals and would recommend people AGAINST using this company."

Everything loaded from a 3 bedroom terrace by 10.30am and transported at 2pm to a two bedroomed flat just under a mile away.
