About Us

After having served 4 years in the Army, James decided to set up Chelmsford Removals. Before and during his time in the forces he had worked for his parents removals company gaining invaluable experience. Chelmsford Removals all began with one van and an ad in the local paper advertising man + a van removals. Shortly afterwards James acquired an existing small removals company, Braintree Removals.

With the additional vehicles and established business, he began to take on full size removals. In 2013 the company was expanded further, and a management team was put into place. At this time, we also took on our large modern storage premises and expanded the fleet to keep up with demand.

Moving a four bedroom house contents from Chelmsford to Cressing , Braintree. Packing was done by Us in boxes provided by the company. Move included the usual furniture, ALOT of brown cardboard boxes, a fully equipped stocked woodworking workshop and extensive garden sundries.

"We selected Chelmsford Removals as they moved us into our old house 16 years ago, and with our recent move still proved to be best value for money.
Every step from the quotation, accurate assessment of number of boxes and being kept up to date leading up to the move was very professional.
On the day of the move the 6 guys arrived with two lorries bang on time and they were all very diligent and worked hard to swiftly load up the household, all whilst having some great banter and good humor.
Finding a long lost car key down the back of a sofa was a bonus.
Short drive to the new house and unloaded just as quickly. Very helpful crew. and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone."

Chelmsford Removals stepped in at the last minute when the company we had booked were unable to do our move.

"From the start they were efficient and friendly. We had got a quote from Chelmsford Removals before but did not go with them as they were the most expensive. We can safely say now you get what you pay for and they were well worth it!

The moving team worked so hard but were sociable and supportive when we were exhausted and couldn't think straight! We has more TV screens than on the quote but they made no fuss and just found more wrapping for them.

I want to say thank you so much to the lovely team of guys who moved us from Loughton to Nacton recently. We were anxious and exhausted but their good humour, support and hard work made the move almost pleasant!

We are truly grateful.

I highly recommend the company and would definitely use them again.

Full house move with furniture. Disassembly and Reassembly of washing machine, sofas and king size bed included

"From start to finish Chelmsford removals were incredible. We were very stressed about the moving process but they took all of that away. Every aspect of our move had been thought out by Chelmsford removals and no task or request was too much. They were professional, polite and we couldn’t have moved without them. All of our furniture was taken apart by the team for the move and put back together in our new property, they took so much care with all of our items and I will definitely be booking Chelmsford Removals in the future.

I had a few large pieces of furniture and about 50 boxes that needed moving, also adition stop to pick up a sofa.to be moved to a 2nd floor apartment without proper parking. It couldn''t be delivered before 4:30pm either.

"Very friendly and efficient movers, also very afordable. I highly recommend them!

They picked everything up another the agrees time, made the additional stop and found a place round the park of the building to park. They were very friendly and took everything up the stairs. They were very friendly and placed furniture where I wanted it. The whole process saved me a lot of hassle. I'm very grateful that I found an awesome company at an affordable price."

Ours was not an easy for the removal team as it was about half the house to move as our daughter is staying. We also moved over 20 plants in pots some vey big and all handled with care

"They arrived on time…introduced themselves and gave out a feeling they were happy in their work. As soon as we had all had tea ect it was on with the job always confining our box markings ect. The moving of all furniture and boxes was efficient and with no fuss. The same applies the other end of the job 4 men working together and doing a great job.
Chelmsford will definitely be moving my daughter which will be in the neay future."

Absolutley brilliant guys who wasn’t concerned about getting our old fridge freezer out of a very tight space - great at dismantling and reassembling of our wardrobes and beds.

"Absolutley brilliant guys who made us feel very comfortable with them coming into our home - very professional, nothing was too much trouble, easy to talk to and very understanding of the dust under the beds! 🤦🏻‍♀️
They handled all our furniture with care and Terry did a great job dismantling our wardrobes & Beds - we had to put our worldly goods in storage for 6 weeks - and it was so easy to organise the move out of storage and into our new home - where Rob did a great job of assembling our wardrobes & bed!
John did both our move out & move in and is a lovely helpful guy - and didn’t mind when I changed my mind where the boxes should go! Would definitely recommend Chelmsford Removals!"

Move from premises to another county.

"I helped move my parents after them being in the same house since the mid 80's. From the first visit they provided guidance and suggestions. We were very happy with the quote we received. We packed ourselves and instructions were reasonably clear although they did send us a booklet which arrived the week before our moving date. On the day of the removal the team were prompt, hard-working and efficient. Everything was packed and handled carefully with protection put on carpets and doors at both properties. We were delighted with how smoothly the whole day went and felt the company gave good value for money and excellent service."

"This is the second time we have used this company and we could not be more pleased. They arrived on time, took great care with our belongings and were extremely neat, tidy and efficient. We moved from Essex to Somerset so it was a long day, but the guys didn't slow down and were happy to do that little extra to make sure we had everything in its right place ready for us to settle into our new home. "I found Chelmsford Removals very straightforward to deal with. I had a few questions before the actual move - all of which were answered promptly. The actual removal team were friendly, helpful, cheerful, and respectful. I am very happy to recommend them, and they would certainly be my first choice should I need removal services in the future. Moving for the first time in 37 years and during Covid restrictions proved interesting.

"We had to do a video call of the house for them to estimate what packing was required and the cost. We were very happy with the quote we received. We packed ourselves and instructions were reasonably clear although they did send us a booklet which arrived the week before our moving date which we could have done with earlier.

On the day they were prompt, hard-working and efficient. Everything was packed and handled carefully with protection put on carpets and doors at both properties. We were installed in our new home by lunchtime as it was very local and already vacant. The only issue was we found later that the castors on two of our plastic filing towers had been broken. We can only assume they didn't notice as nothing was said. The problem was easily rectified by removing all the castors so the towers weren't lopsided. On the whole we were delighted with how smoothly the whole day went and felt the company gave good value for money and excellent service

Downsizing from 3 bedroom to 2 bedroom house: a move made simple by this company.

"I'd not moved for 18 years, so this was an anxious process (with cats, to complicate things!). However, even from the first enquiry there was a clarity and straightforwardness that made the whole thing much easier. The company made reserving the date absolutely clear. The quote was accurate.

On the day, a good omen: I was able to grab all the parking spaces outside for the removals lorry! The team arrived exactly on time at 8 a.m., 4 guys all extremely professional, calm and customer-focused. I'd got most stuff downstairs, so they had loaded the lorry by 9 a.m. - handling items excellently, taking note of 'fragile' labelling, protecting mattresses and sofa.

Completion didn't take place until almost 3 p.m. - so frustrating - but the guys waited outside the new property patiently and when I arrived at last with keys there was no grumbling, just instant, friendly getting on with unloading and taking stuff inside.

The team checked where items should go, navigated a tiny house with true skill, and completed the unloading very swiftly. The office took payment of the balance by phone, and the job was done.

In retrospect, the removals process was the easiest part of the whole process of selling, buying, conveyancing, moving.

I really would recommend this company: 100% professional, highly skilled, but also excellent people. I've given 10/10 scores throughout, because that is my honest verdict.

Move from detached house in Chelmsford to another detached house in Frinton. A two day move - packed up the majority of the house on one day, and the remainder on the actual completion/removal day.

"We found the removal company to be really helpful and reliable throughout the whole of the moving process.
From the initial survey, dropping off packing boxes, and the actual removal, we trusted the company to do a good service and they succeeded in that. The removal team were very helpful, polite, with a great sense of humour and lots of patience... especially when it came to replumbing in the washing machine!

"Tom and Pav turned up on time to start the removal of our items.
They used protective covers for our settees and TVs, and other thick blankets for our other furniture.

They both worked really hard throughout the day, and was pleased to find all our items did not sustain any damage.

This was a significant move requiring three days due to the volume of stuff to be moved. This included difficult items such as a pool table and grand piano as well as lots of garden furniture. Plenty of boxes of differing sizes were provided in advance. We didn''t take the packing service although it was available. They did provide guidance on the best way to pack and how to mark up boxes. Also advised on what not to empty e.g. chest of drawers, wardrobes etc. so this saved loads of time and effort. The move involved storage of some items as well as moving most of them. This was handled with no problem. They disconnected and dismantled stuff as required and re-instated at the other end. They arrived punctually each day and were polite and hardworking throughout.

Pre-move planning and provision of materials was efficient and friendly.

The move, which was over three days due to the volume of "stuff", including a pool table, grand piano and other challenges, just happened. No dramas, no issues. Just a really friendly and hardworking group of guys, led by an outstanding foreman James.

Never complained about anything despite being sent to the wrong room with huge pieces of furniture on more than a few occasions.

Thanks so much guys. Absolutely outstanding job and made a really difficult time for us so much easier. Cannot praise the team highly enough.
