Moving from a 3 bedroom house to a small park home

"This review is very belated as I have been meaning to write for nearly a year.
I was under a great deal of stress as I did not wish to move but unfortunately due to a marriage break up it became essential.
Many times I realise how supportive, kind and helpful they all were making the tiring day as straight forward as possible. So efficient too. Not intrusive just genuinely professional. How lovely it is when people are like this.
I apologise for not having written a review before. I have moved many times even in other countries and this was definitely the easiest, friendliest & most efficient.

They arranged my furniture so well that most of it is still in the same place. So thoughtful."

We moved just round the corner, in Eastbourne, from a large Edwardian detached house on a busy road to a large chalet bungalow less than half a km away. It took 3 full days to pack up our glass, China and pictures, whilst we ourselves packed the rest of our possessions accumulated over 24 years. Furniture, some large and heavy, including an upright piano and a heavy marble statue, was carefully and cheerfully carried off the premises, and some items had to be dismantled before moving.

"Gosdens were professional, careful, hard working and pleasant to have around during the 3 day packing up work. They remained good humoured and polite, and never once lost their energy. The other end was the same - careful unloading and reassembling of furniture was carried out without complaint, in spite of some items being extremely heavy and awkward. The contents of the numerous boxes were labelled thoroughly and legibly. Every single item, however small, were skilfully wrapped, and we had not a single breakage. Altogether we were 200% satisfied and will be recommending Gosdens to all our friends on the move."

Gosdens were supposed to move an antique corner cupboard for me as a part load on one of their removal lorries from Eastbourne to Bristol.

"Gosdens were supposed to move an antique corner cupboard from Eastbourne to Bristol as a part load in one of their removal lorries, appropriately securing and protecting the load for the journey.

Instead they sent it via Parcel Force, unprotected in a cardboard box and it arrived smashed into pieces. They hadn't told Parcel Force what they were carrying and had actually labelled the box "bags,shoes, washing up/finish soap".

6 months later Gosdens have refused to reply to any correspondence apart from issuing a denial of all liability. Needless to say I would not recommend them as providing a professional service."

"I don�t remember the other points. Having been encouraged not to empty chests of drawers, I presumed a strap would be used to keep drawer closed during handling. This was not the case and minor damage to a wall was caused when drawers slid open. The team was helpful and friendly, though a bit rushed."
