Our move was from a four bed house on the mainland in October, into storage, then on to our new home on an island. Although the move out date was fixed, the period in storage and the move-in date were only guessed as until 10 days before it actually happened.

"From the start, we found the service provided by Thomson Removals to be very efficient and professional. They really seemed to know what they were doing. Although the move seemed a bit complicated to us, they took it all in their stride which inspired confidence. The initial price quoted following a visit by a member of their team, was reasonable for the work involved. The office support provided when we asked questions or wanted to buy packing materials was also very good. Liz in particular was very reassuring and capable. The removal teams for both collection and delivery were very pleasant and seemed to work well together. The only slight "delay" in the process came when we tried to alter the move-in date. We didn't provide a lot of notice (because of the solicitors leaving everything very late) and it took 2 or 3 days for the lady in the office at that time, to find and fix a new date for us to move in. Eventually we all agreed a Saturday would suit, for which we (understandably) paid a supplement. If Liz had been in the office at the time, she may have been able to nail down a mutually convenient date a little quicker (possibly). This was the only tiny glitch in an otherwise faultless service from Thomson Removals."

Decided to update and upgrade our home of 38 years and as the first step to remove all Artex ceillings and replace hardwood floors in 4 major rooms throughhout. This required us to totally clear our Lounge, dining room, 4 bedrooms, Hallway stairs and upper and ground floor halls. We had to arrange the removal, packing and storing of all of our household furnishings including carpets and curtains i.e. totally strip house down to bare floorboards. We first contacted Thomson Removals office staff to discuss our requirements which bascially included packing all household items including main suite, dining table bedroom furnishings dishes glasses display unit contents etc. taking items into storage and finally returning when required.

"From our first initial contact with Liz Thomson and her office staff through to our engagement and involvement with packing and removal teams to receiving monthly updates and finally the contact with removal team returning our items the service provided has been exemplary and first class. Throughout our 3 month involvement we have been kept fully informed of the services we have received and at all times all of our requirements have been readily accommodated. I cannot recommend the servce highly enough. It was a delight to be involved with all concered."

Moved to rented accommodation when our house was damaged and uninhabitable, after a major water leak from a burst pipe.

"Liz at Thomsons was very good at her job. She was understanding and sympathetic to our predicament, and went out of her way to accommodate our many requests. Her replies to our many emails and telephone calls were prompt and very helpful. Her team were excellent too.

On the day of delivery Stephen and Cameron were exceptionally good as well. They were easy to deal with and paid attention to all our requirements. They were extremely pleasant, hard working and also cleared up everything after assembling the furniture. They are a credit to Thomsons.

Thomsons have been excellent and good value for money.

Relocation between England and Scotland

"From our first contact with Thomson’s removals everyone has appeared confident and informative in the roles they conduct. From arranging a video chat for the move quotation to arranging storage and a removal day that fit in with our requirements nothing appeared too much trouble.
Moving is a stressful time but the minute the drivers arrived I was told “we are here to take over the stress and your time to relax”. Despite a last minute schedule change everything went as expected. Having travelled 4 hours to our home to begin loading the drivers were smiling and ready to tackle the day filling us with ease. Everything arrived at our new home in the condition it left our old home in.

It was an incredibly stressful time moving house , closing dates, mortgages in place, insurance, SEPA , lawyers etc. .

"Hi ,
I would totally recommend Thomsons Removals Thomsons were excellent, their flexibility and in particular the service at a personal level from the chaps doing the removals etc…

When selecting removal company we had to try and identify number of boxes , pieces of furniture, appliances etc both indoor and outdoor.. Thomsons were understanding, flexible and helpful."

A long distance UK move, and storage facilites required for several weeks.

"We were offered the insurance package, which we accepted. No terms and conditions of the policy were given. The Insurance Policy was invalid due to us packing items ourselves, and yet when our furniture arrived at our new property very damaged, Thompson Removals would not facilitate our claim, The underwriters of the Policy also refused the claim as the Policy was only valid if Thomsons Removals undertook all of the packing on our behalf, and yet the quotation for the move clearly stated 'Customer to pack'. Hence, the Insurance Policy would never have paid out and should not have been offered to a customer who chose to pack their own belongings.
The management of Thomsons Removals were not helpful in any way, and refused to communicate with us, instead, directing us to the Insurance Underwriters, who also referred us back to Thomsons Removals.
No code of practice was provided by Thompsons Removals despite many requests for it.
Would never use this company again."

In fact, moving as we were from Glasgow to Dorset, I was very proud to have this company represent Scotland. Removal team expertly and professionally packed and removed all of my belongings, including a cast-iron frame, vintage piano, from my 3rd floor flat (no lifts, just stairs) into storage in March. Safe and secure storage of my goods for 5 months at competitive price. Stored belongings and piano all delivered out of storage and took only 2 hours to unload and install in my new home. (No breakages or damages reported, full insurance cover offered by Thomson to suit individual requirements.) I have used Thomson Removals 3 times in recent years and have always found them to be helpful, courteous, professional, good value for money and highly experienced in house removals and I can highly recommend them.

"Thomson was Ist class as the first date for moving was cancelled due to lockdown but Thomson kept in contact throughout this. The actual move was amazing move due to John and Greg, father and son team they are the most delightful and professional people I have met nothing was any effort for both of them and more so when we arrived at our new home.

Helped assemble and place furniture in new property, could not have been more helpful and friendly.

"From start to finish the whole endeavour was handled beautifully. From the initial contact, through to costing, to booking and even managing to change the date due to issues from the purchaser of my home, I felt I was being dealt with in an extremely efficient and friendly manner.

There was a small unavoidable delay in the arrival of the REMOVALS vehicle but as soon as they arrived they got to work. It was all done quickly and expertly and nothing was any trouble.

Friendly, helpful staff who packed everything I did not have time to do on the day.

"Friendly staff both at the office and the removers themselves.The price was very competitive and I was able to speak to staff on the telephone to discuss what I wanted. I was also pleased that a member of staff came prior to the move to assess the job rather than me having to list everything via the internet as one company wanted.

The removers were happy to pack items I just did not have time to pack prior to the move at a reasonable additional cost.

A member of my family was at the new address to oversee the unpacking as I had to split my journey overnight due to the distance. I arrived just a few minutes after they had left and she was delighted with their efficiency and helpfulness."
