Move from Surrey to Lincolnshire, including several antiques and pieces of fine furniture.

"Farrer & Fenwick do not have the expertise in handling antique furniture that they claim to have. One of the removers was rude and ill-mannered and showed no concern for my possessions.

The surveyor assured me that my fragile furniture would be handled appropriately by people who knew how to handle such items. However, the person packing insisted on using my french polished desk to put heavy items on, despite my asking him politely not to do that, because of the fragile surface. This resulted in numerous scratches from sliding boxes and a deep scratch and a dent from his dropping a heavy item.

While the remover showed no genuine remorse or concern, the company did take my complaint seriously. They sent a restorer the next day and gave me a discount as compensation. However, the damage was irreversible and the item has significant sentimental as well and monetary value. Farrer & Fenwick have continued to tell me that this employee has expertise in fine furniture.

The removal team did not allow sufficient time to pack all of my items, meaning the packing and loading the lorry were rushed, causing further damage to my furniture. The company were very accommodating regarding my very short window between exchange of contracts and completion. However, given the lack of skill and care they showed on the day, I would strongly recommend that anyone with fine or antique furniture does not use this company."

Thanks for your review but I am sorry you weren't happy with the service we provided back in July. We always try our best with every move we do, but sometimes things do not go completely to plan. In your situation we tried to remedy the situation the following day by sending a French Polisher over. When you were not satisfied with this we gave you significant compensation for any damage and distress caused that you agreed to. As you can see from our previous reviews we always try our hardest to give an excellent service both before, during and after your move.

Move from detached two-storey (+ attic) house to detached bungalow. Moved locally so no distance involved. Some very fragile objects/other low value but high sentimental oil paintings.

We had a lot of stuff to move. No damage or any breakages.
Furniture which needed disassembling/assembling done without a fuss.
We completed very late in the day. The F&F team stood by us and ensured we had all we needed for first night.
