We had seen Luker Bros lorries in Switzerland with their distinctive logo for several decades while visiting family and friends in Switzerland on a regular basis and so this was the first firm that we approached. Indeed, around 15 years ago Luker Bros had repatriated an elderly widow from our village in Switzerland to live with her daughter in the UK.
Since the UK’s departure from the European Community in 2021 it is even more important to appoint a remover with direct international experience especially in regard to Customs regulations and procedures. We received excellent advice both from Luker Bros and also from their Swiss importing agent whom we took the trouble to meet a month prior to our move. Apart from the issues of importing cars and animals, which we were required to do separately and personally, the rest of our furniture and belongings caused no problem at all!!
The move was not the most straightforward as we were moving from a London house where we had lived for over 40 years to a Swiss farmhouse that had been in the family for 50 years and was fully furnished and equipped. However, all the items that we wanted to take to Switzerland were safely packed and delivered. The one item that should not have gone and the one that was hidden even from ourselves so stayed in London were the only two hiccups and both were our own fault!! The unloading was fast and efficient and took about half the time for the packing and loading and we are still going through boxes and will be doing that for quite some time.
