Domestic move from SW London to East Devon

"Rumsey and Son carried out our move from SW London to East Devon in February 2025. From the initial visit and quotation we felt very confident that we and our property would be looked after. The office team were quick to respond to any questions asked and were polite, courteous and helpful right down to arranging bay suspensions for our move days.

On the day of the move the team that attended were superb. Our house had quite tricky access (3 floors, narrow stairs, tight doorways) and we have a lot of possessions! Not one grumble or complaint when moving some really difficult bits of furniture and a solution to get around problems was always found, and great care taken not to damage anything.

The team returned on day two of the move for the final bits and pieces and our goods were taken off to secure storage pending completion on our house purchase early the following week.

The day after we moved in to our new place both trucks arrived with their teams in good time after a very long drive from London, and despite very narrow roads and tight access were impressively able to get the vehicles into our drive for unloading - no mean feat!

The teams got stuck into unloading all our possessions and were so helpful when it came to placing things in the right rooms, despite some changes of mind by us. They were absolute troopers and got both trucks unloaded safely in the one day between four of them.

In summary we would like to say that our experience with Rumsey and Son has been wonderful right from the get-go. A special note should be added that all the crews (Foxy, Dave and all) were at all times polite, professional and fun to be with. A credit to themselves and the Company. We thank you all for making something stressful so very relaxed.

Move from East Sheen to Newquay in Cornwall. The access at the back of the house in Cornwall necessitated a short walk and a few steps but the team took it all in their stride.

"We found the team courteous, friendly and willing. Nothing was too much and they went above and beyond to help with everything they could and when unloading ensure that everything went where we wanted. They didn't just dump the boxes and leave.
Packing was done very professionally with no breakages. Only one missing item so far but we are hoping it will surface, otherwise have to assume it got left wrapped in a box by accident in our haste to unpack so that empty boxes could all be put back in the vans.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Rumsey to anyone considering a move. Thoroughly professional from start to finish.

A move from a 4 bed house to a 5 bed

"Friendly staff and a good sales person, explained everything very well. The removal men were polite and friendly. Generally a good experience, however several small items were broken during the move and the movers failed to inform us, even though they knew, so we had to just find broken things as we went along.
They also inexplicably put an entire box of clothes in a box marked clothes, right at the back of our garage. This meant it took me a month to find them, and I had to buy new clothes, which wasn't helpful."

We moved from an almost 3000 sq ft, 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom house in Chiswick to a nearby house half the size. We�d lived in our original house for 40 years. We have a piano and a large delicate antique mirror together with 20 large heavy plant pots of both indoor and outdoor plants.

"We were impressed with Rumsey & Son from the moment Peter sat down at our kitchen table to thoroughly discuss our impending move to the moment we thanked their team profusely for being so efficient, careful and good natured throughout our 3 day move. They even recommended how the furniture should be arranged in the new smaller house.

The move went very smoothly.

"The team arrived on time.

The men worked really hard with humour and stayed in continuous conversation with us as to what we wanted stage by stage.The team of four worked on the first day.

On arriving at the new property they worked continuously until they finished and didn't leave us until 9.30 at night. Three men worked on the second day. I don't know which of the four was called to another job!"
