"Very professional from start to finish. David talked us through the whole process and was very helpful. I wouldn’t choose anyone else.

International, UK to Southern France, Personal effects

"Britannia Appleyards are, in our opinion, the best. As an International business we used Britannia to move the personal effects of our staff from New Zealand to the UK [and back] as/when their secondments to our business required. They were a great company to deal with and I never received any complaints from staff – so when I needed to move some of my own furniture from the UK to France [pre-Brexit, in 2018] Appleyards immediately sprung to mind…and everything was seamless, I couldn’t fault the service that we received.

Post Brexit [Feb 2024] I was much, much more concerned, mostly with the paperwork, but knew that David Appleyard had never let us down and that we would be in safe hands. David talked us through all the hoops and loops, and kept us informed every step of the way. What’s more, the driver [Wayne] that delivered to us in March 2018 was going to deliver again in February 2024. It says a lot about a company when the staff have worked with them for a long time; in Wayne’s case, very long standing, and Steve, ‘the porter’, was also into double digits with Appleyards. What a genuinely nice couple [I say couple ‘cause they live and breathe together while on the road for weeks on end] – we couldn’t have wished for a better team.

Moving your personal possessions is stressful, there is a ton of stuff going on and you’re juggling – but knowing that Britannia Appleyards are alongside makes a huge chunk of the worries go away. The staff that rock up at your house are courteous, polite, hard working, cheerful, well presented and take care of your antiques and irreplaceable memories. The way they jigsaw together everything in the lorry is mind boggling, to ensure that the vehicle is packed tightly yet carefully. Who knows what happens paperwork wise, that is another behind the scenes miracle, but out the other end you find yourself in your new house, with everything in the right place. We couldn’t have done this without them all.

We waved Wayne and Steve off at the end of a tough day, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be the last time we see them. I’m pretty confident that David Appleyard’s kids will be in charge one day –they’re not yet out of primary school – so, my advice to you the reader of this long epitaph is to forget the marginally cheaper quotes and use Britannia Appleyards. Rip everything else up and use the professionals!

Our latest move was from Lincolnshire to Cheshire. Total of 4 days split 50% collection and delivery. Our consignment included a vintage Grandfather Clock and a number of outdoor and indoor plants, which all arrived safely.

"This is the third time we have used this remover to handle our house moves including returning to the UK from France. Each time their service has been perfect. No breakages and their men have been superb. Professional in what they do, always willing to meet our specific requests, polite and tidy. We cannot praise Britannia Appleyards enough. On returning from France we used their storage facilities for about 3 months. Perfect storage, no damage and they even watered our outdoor plants. A fantastic company with quality service at competitive prices."

Carol and I moved from our home of 20 years situated near Carcassonne in the south of France back in October 2022 to a new build in Cambridgeshire. We were downsizing from a massive property which we had built over the last 20 years - hence had some much stuff. In France we ran holiday accommodation so had loads of holiday stuff including 2 sea kayaks, large garden ornaments, sun loungers, and boxes of power tools and builders bits.

"We choose the Appleyard's team from our previous experience some 20 years earlier when they initially moved us to France. Their team then and now was reliable, professional and clearly the experts. They worked with us during the packing process and were a pleasure to have around.

As to price, I cannot really comment, we just wanted someone to look after our possessions and we were 100% confident that Appleyard's would do this and they did.

If we move again we would certainly employ David and the Appleyard's team again."

"With less than a weeks notice to book a removals firm, Britannia Appleyards turned it around for us. They were very efficient, no issues on the day and made it effortless for us. We had a delay which in turn pushed our moving date to the new property a day later, Britannia was not phased but very accommodating. The gents moving us were a great help, very polite and just brilliant.

They were very courteous and helpful whenever I needed access to my container(s) whilst they were in store.
Upon delivery to my home both the driver and his mate could not have been more helpful.
I would not hesitate to recommend Appleyards of Rotherham to BBC anybody needing packing, storage and collection/delivery of their goods.

"I am very satisfied with the exceptional service from the Office staff to the men who carried out the packing and removals.

My large glass pictures and ornaments were safe and not one item was broken or even scratched! The price was very fair and the staff worked incredibly hard and had difficult tight steps to deal with.

Moved from one home to next

"The delivery crew were lazy and kept dropping things damaging items and even leaving some on the truck that you have never returned! They took day breaks every hour and sat on my furniture in the van while messing on their phones instead of packing which having used several removal companies before was so slow and they didn’t put the boxes in the right rooms on delivery just put them anywhere even leaving some outside when they couldn’t be brother to bring them in as they were in a rush to leave. Emptying our house and keeping everything in storage for two months. The goods were then transported to our new house in France.

"We initially contacted a number of removal companies regarding our move to France. This was the only company that could accommodate our timescale for moving our goods into storage on completion of the house sale.
On a very hot day the removal guys were really good and got everything packed.
We were informed about the timescale for moving our goods to France. The guys in France informed us at what time they would arrive and unloaded everything safely.
Our only slight concern was the lack of communication at times but in the end everything went well. We would have no hesitation in using them again if the need arose."

We’ve had to move in four stages - 3 containers out of storage and one load from our temporary home- as we were seriously down sizing it had to be scheduled over the 4 drops.

"Our move was complicated- originally from France part delivery UK and remainder in Storage - three containers phased over 3 deliveries - the planing was spot on and on schedule the staff handle the schedule efficiently. The delivery team were amazing nothing was too much trouble."
