Replacement of three velux windows and additional works to replace damaged roof and ridge tiles

"AKA buildings services provided an excellent service. Andrew surveyed the property on a Saturday after only just arrived back off holiday, this allowed an early start to the work.
The team turned up on time, covered everywhere with sheets and wore shoe covers to avoid any damage to floors and fittings. The quality of the workmanship was excellent, there has been torrential downpours since and everything is water tight.
The works were undertaken in June 2023 during a period of very hot weather, but all the works were carried out on time and to budget. All the team were very polite and professional in what they did. Andrew arranged for some additional works to be undertaken at a very reasonable cost, and with the installation of the new windows, to a very high standard.
I would have no hesitation in recommending them to other people,they are a pleasant group of men who work hard and carry out work to a very high quality."

AKA Building Services replaced a rotting Velux roof window at our home which was leaking with a new Velux unit complete with a blackout blind. They supplied a competitive fully inclusive quote for the Velux window, fixture, fittings and labour. Most importantly, Velux HQ in the UK had recommended them as one of their registered Velux Certified Installers. They kept in touch with us about the ordering of parts and the day of installation to suit our movements. They arrived on site on time to carry out the work. They even replaced a couple of York slate roofing tiles to match the ones of our roof and ensured we had the current flashings in place. The company also moved the position of a down rainwater pipe which was obstructing a fire escape first floor double glazed window. They did that without any fuss.

Not only that, but AKA Building Services’ final invoice was sent speedily and was within the budget they had given.

I’d have no hesitation in recommending them. Overall they did a superb job.

To replace an existing Velux window with a new unit (already purchased). It was found that the pitch of the roof was less than 15 degrees therefore additional works had to be undertaken to increase the pitch of the window. Post installation it was also found that the reveal interred with the opening of the window and further work was required to ensure the window opened without catching on the reveal.

"All in all a very easy company to deal with. The company owner (Andrew) was helpful and explained everything at each stage of the job. The team were polite, easy to get along with and very well trained and skilled. They worked efficiently and at the end of the job all rubbish was removed from the site. All in all an exceptionally good job and would not hesitate in recommending to others."

Fitting of 2 Velux light tunnels.

"Andrew visited our home to assess and price the work we had requested. He was very thorough and experienced with the products and he explained that the light tunnels would be our best option. He sent us the quote via email and there was no pressure.
The work was carried out at a time and day that was convenient to us and it was completely organised. There was no mess, damage or rubbish left. The results were terrific. Better than we could ever have hoped for.
They were polite and considerate and have completely restored my faith in builders. I would not hesitate in recommending them to everyone.

"Since the job was arranged via Velux Replacement service - who appointed AKA as a registered Velux Installer - all the invoicing was done by them.
AKA were easy to contact and communicate with when planning the timing. They were very tidy workers and happy to explain what they were up to as the work proceeded. All done in a day with nice end result."

Investigation of and repair to a Velux window not originally installed by AKA.

"From our initial telephone conversation to the completion of the repair we have been so impressed with Andrew. He turned up on time, took videos of the problem and showed them to us. Advised us of the best course of action and kept the cost to a minimum. Thought he may need to make another appointment to get it sorted but he didn’t leave until our velux was water right.
Wouldn’t hesitate to use him again or recommend him and his work. A thoroughly fantastic experience."

Large Velux window removal and replacement

"We decided to use Andrew (AKA Building Services) after much research as we did not know a local Velux firm, and are so glad we did. Andrew and his team demonstrated the utmost professionalism from start to finish. We needed a very old broken large Velux replacing upstairs in a bedroom. On the first visit Andrew came to measure up and confirm what was needed. He even spent time on the roof and inside the house mending the broken Velux so that it could now shut properly, this was well beyond our expectations. We still required a new one so he measured up, and would send a quote through, which he did. Despite multiple supply issues due to Covid he kept us informed of progress at all times. We agreed a date for installation, and he and a team of 3 arrived promptly at 8am and completed the work,finishing at about 1pm. They were all very polite, professional, considerate, tidy and left no mess whatsoever. They showed real respect to their quality of work, attention to detail and to us and our home. Even to the extent of asking if one of our cats was allowed outside as they had to enter the house several times. It is very comforting to know that there are companies operating with such a high standard of service.
We highly recommend Andrew and would absolutely look to him for any future work we might need. Thank you AKA Building Services!"

Replacement of two Velux windows which were over 27 years old. The price below is the price of the new windows and installation costs.

"Andrew Konieczny of AKA Building Services and his two men team did an excellent professional job and worked tirelessly throughout the day to complete the work, which was more complicated than I had anticipated. They went to a great deal of trouble to provide dust sheets where they were working and passing through and they did a thorough job of cleaning d outside before they left. I was pleased to find that there was hardly any disturbance to the interior surroundings of the windows and no further re-decorating was necessary.

When the work had been completed Andrew took time to show me the work they had done and how to use the windows and look after them.

I was pleased that the team all wore face masks to prevent Covid when talking to me and when passing in and out of the house."

Replacement of two large old Velux Sky Light Windows

"It was the most hassle free experience from beginning to completion I ever had of getting organised to replace our leaky large Velux Sky light Windows.
I got a quick quotation from Velux Window Ltd through their Web site and then the firm put us in touch with one of their certified installers. Installation fee was agreed.
The Velux certified Installer (AKA building Services from Burnley) contacted us a couple of days later to arrange for an installation date.
Andrew of AKA building Service confirmed the date 2 days before the installation date by phone. The Team arrived promptly to start work in the morning. Andrew and his two helpers were most courteous, tidy, helpful and great professionalism in their work.
