Consumer Protection Association

Consumer Protection Association

The Consumer Protection Association is a top UK consumer protection agency. A national organisation that has been helping consumers and installers for over twenty years, the CPA is recognised as the number one resource for connecting accredited home improvement installers with consumers.

A CPA member is a top rated tradesman, who is highly skilled and displays best trading practice standards and ultimate customer satisfaction on every job.

Not only is every member fully vetted in terms of litigation history checks, technical skills, trading records, financial position, quality of work, trading practices and customer service, but they are continually vetted by you the consumer.

Finding a Contractor

The Scottish Government advise consumers to think about who you will use to carry out work on your home: Ensure that the trader is competent - do they have the skills needed to do the job well using the right materials? Ensure that the trader is reputable - what recourse would you have if there was a problem?

There is no list of recommended contractors. The Scottish Government cannot recommend individual traders and a list would require constant monitoring and checking by people with expertise in the quality of completed work. New companies appear and good employees move between companies regularly, so there is difficulty in assuring a list is current and valid. However, the Scottish Government recommends using tradespeople who are members of professional trade schemes. This firm is a member of one of the schemes listed on their site

Trading Standards - Angus (Reputable Trader Scheme)

Trading Standards - Angus (Reputable Trader Scheme)

The Angus Reputable Trader Scheme (ARTS) has been introduced with the intention of establishing a fair, honest and reliable trading environment. The Trading Standards service will work with businesses who are dedicated to providing consumers with a service that is fair and reliable.

The scheme has many benefits. It will help marginalise rogue traders, doorstep selling and addresses the problem of age restricted sales. The scheme will help lift the barriers that many homeowners face when making home improvements and will offer consumers a choice of traders who they can contact with confidence. The scheme is open to all businesses who trade in Angus or who have their place of business in Angus.

Trading Standards - Dundee (Trusted Trader)

Trading Standards - Dundee (Trusted Trader)

The Dundee Trusted Trader scheme is a local business partnership aimed at increasing consumer confidence, promoting good practice within local small business, and helping protect citizens from doorstep crime. The scheme is managed and administered by Dundee City Council Trading Standards service.

It is a condition of membership of the scheme that members adhere to a Code of Practice. The services delivered by member businesses are assessed by their own customers, through a survey system operated by Referenceline.

The information presented under this scheme is accurate to the best of our knowledge, but must not be taken in any way as a warranty by the Council of the status of any individual trader. The Council will not accept liability whatsoever arising out of the use of the information obtained under this scheme.
