The move took place over two days, I had around 50 boxes, plus furniture and contents of the shed and garden. I was packed up incredibly quickly the first day by the team, including dismantling bed, a high sleeper bed and desk, and wardrobes. The second day the team unpacked and rebuilt everything where we wanted it. All of the team from start to finish were great, friendly, polite, respectful and worked quickly.

Moved elderly and disabled parent from a large house to a smaller bungalow also moved us shortly afterwards from a large house to a smaller bungalow. Helped dismantle and rebuild furniture over a weekend, helped transport items to different addresses - helped with packing and materials. Excellent all round

"We have used Chapmans 3 times in two years to move elderly relatives and for our own complicated move. Their communication, flexibility and value for money is excellent. They take a personal interest in each job and are kindly, patient and very professional. Excellent quality business.

Latest move involved dismantling and rebuilding furniture in different locations over a weekend as well as co-ordination of the main move from a large 4 bed home to a smaller bungalow.

Helped with packing too.

Always contactable - team shared their knowledge with each other so everyone was in the loop excellent service.

Moved at end of March. Move was only a few treats away by a very professional service.

"The removers came the day before the move which proved very advantageous to us. They filled the van which meant on the actual day of move were in new property by 11am. This allowed early access for our buyers.
The team were extremely professional and very friendly. So at a stressful time things were made much easier and all flowed well."

The move involved packing of all domestic and business assets - quite a complex operation, involving high value antiques, water colours & silver - heavy garden features - victorian stone ware and mature plants - plus personal items and clothing. The items were packed from the loft, 2 floors and offices, loaded, shipped 200miles and unloaded at 2 addresses

"Our initial removal was frustrated by our intended Buyer being unable to proceed plus, the owner of the initial property we intended to buy removing the property from the market. Chapmans were extremely co-operative and patient with our issues.

The actual phases of the eventual removal proceeded very smoothly and, despite traffic issues on the M42 the team still completed the delivery to address 2 as promised.

The unloading phase proceeded very smoothly without us feeling under pressure, and after completion, whilst having a very large number of boxes to eventually unpack, we felt comfortable that the unloading team had no intention of leaving until we were settled and they could no longer be of assistance."

"One small thing, salesman said I could keep portable wardrobes, but removal men said opposite, but they did ensure portable wardrobes were emptied and put in agreed places.

We moved from a detached house to a new build 100 miles away where they are still building so builders on site We had lots of garden furniture and plants in pots

"We moved over 2 days, the first day was loading everything on to the lorry and the next day it was to meet us at our new home 100 miles away
The 3 boys who worked both days were polite and helpful, they dismantled huge wardrobes and beds and then assembled back the next day
They checked all the furniture and boxes were where we wanted them

"Arrived on time 2 men and a large van then 2 more with a smaller van
Introduced themselves and asked me to take them around to see the job
They then started top to bottom quietly and effectively
They were very professional and had everything out within a couple of hours I was asked to walk around and check all was gone
On arrival at the address they began to unpack everything and I was able to stand and direct them to where I wished things to go they were quick efficient friendly and I would recommend them to everybody well done Nathan Gareth thank you"

Moving 7 heavy items of furniture from my sitting room to other rooms in my flat so I could lay a new floor and redecorate then putting the back after the work was finished.

"Nothing was too much trouble for the people i spoke to at Chapmans on the phone or the 2 men that came to move the furniture,2 different men came a week later to put the furniture back they were also helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them,they put everything back just as my wife wanted it.They were all excellent and I would not hesitate to use them again.

A relatively simple move from a 3 bedroom terraced house to another.

"A simple move was done quite poorly. On Chapman's request, we agreed to move over two days and arranged things accordingly. The plan was to pack and partially load a wagon on day 1, then return and finish packing/loading on Day 2. We arranged everything in line with this.

On day 1, a single person arrived in a car. Without informing us, the plan had been changed to pack only on account of there "being no wagon available". We'd paid extra to have our son in nursery for an additional day because we were working to our agreement, so that's £70 wasted.

The day 1 packing was slow and ended prematurely when he ran out of boxes. We were assured everything would be fine on Day 2.

On Day 2, they took 45 minutes to get the van in to our non-descript terraced street. In that time, all three people stayed with the wagon when one could have made a start on making up for lost time. It was nearly 10am before the first boxes went on to the wagon, with a 1pm deadline to vacate.

Despite that, the pace remained pedestrian and eventually a manager was called in to assist. This slack approach meant we had to clean the property around removers, which is difficult if not futile. We got out with 8 minutes to spare, but with no small amount of unneccessary stress.

The move in was similarly rushed, with removers visibily agitated at the work they had to do. Work as rushed and damage caused to walls and furniture. I ended up fitting furniture together, despite having paid a premium for Chapmans to do just that.

Eventually, they left and we set about opening boxes. We were completely disappointed to see the standard of packing. Our belongings were bent to fit boxes, boxes overloaded so things broke, and heavy items put on top of delicate things like house plants. It was a complete lack of thought or care.

Worst of all, though, is the attitude received from the manager when we raised this with them. They somehow deduced it was just a single box of things poorly packed despite documentary proof being supplied. Rather than accept the joib went badly, they chose to argue. We have abandoned a claim for damage to our furniture because, frankly, we just want to see the end of Champan's from our lives.

Since moving, we've been asked for recommendations a number of times. Each time the answer has been the same: Don't use Chapman's.

Move from the city 20 miles away to a small village. Lots of hobby items tpo move eg. windsurfing equipment, paddle boarding, surfing, fishing plus alot of garden paraphenalia

"As newbies to using a removal company after many years of moving house ourselves, I cannot stress enough how worth every penny the service from Chapman's was.
Unfortunately we were in a complex chain of 5 houses endeavouring to complete pre Christmas. Inevitably, we experienced numerous set backs and complications along the way. Elaine and Keith were so calm and helpful and really stuck with us through tears and frustrations to an eventual successful move. They honestly saved my sanity.
Two day pick up was a god send as we had only 3 days between exchange and completion which enabled the (4 bed) house to be stripped and largely cleaned the day before completion giving us time to say our goodbyes and catch the cat !
The guys worked like trojans advising us how to pack awkward items and filling the enormous lorry with our belongings, some of which were awkward and bulky. Amongst the usual paraphernalia there were numerous wind surfing boards and sails, stand up paddle boards, surf boards, 4 bikes etc all safely stowed and transported. In addition, there was a very heavy stone sink (used as a planter) and various garden plants and pots.
Luckily we had the keys by 2.30pm on a bitterly cold but dry December afternoon. The team were already waiting outside at the new property (approximately 20 miles away from our old house) and then raced against the failing light & rapidly forming frost to unload the huge lorry and smaller van. All successfully achieved in 3 hours.
We paid a small amount extra for the bed dismantling & re-erection service. Don't hesitate. It's the first thing they did on arrival which enabled me to make the beds quickly and at least know we could go to sleep comfortably that night.
All in all, a very professional, efficient, friendly and empathetic service. Hopefully we won't move any time soon but if we do I wouldn't hesitate to use Chapman again. Thanks all."

The move involved the transfer of just under 1900 cubic feet of items over a distance of about 60 miles. The move was finalised at 6 days notice and presented Chapmans with some difficulties as the schedule for the due date was already very crowded and there was a shortage of suitable vehicles. The solution was to move some stuff into temporary storage and carry out the main move as arranged.

"The move itself was probably unexceptional but I was impressed by the care taken and the fact that a large number of messy garden items, bags of compost and pots, were taken.

The staff were all super both in the "office" and at the "coal front".
Our move took place at short notice when Chapmans were very busy so I was impressed that they overcame the logistical difficulties. Everyone involved, both the HQ staff and the men who physically did the move, were a delight to work with and were all very good at their jobs."
