We moved to a new property under a mile from old to new house. Both are 4 bedroom detached.

I moved from a small 3 bed semi in Durham to a bungalow in York. I had already moved a lot of small items e.g. kitchen equipment and crockery but needed a firm to move the large items, including a piano, as well as books. A washing machine needed to be disconnected and reconnected at the other end. We agreed beforehand that boxes would be delivered in advance of the move and I would do all the packing.

"I chose the firm because a member of the firm visited at the outset to discuss what was to be moved. I was given helpful advice on which items I could leave in a filing cabinet and chest of drawers, and how the firm would manage larger items such as a piano, double bed and dining table. The price for moving was average compared to other firms.

The firm could be readily contacted before the move and was always helpful. The only downside was that the boxes were delivered only 4 days before I moved which meant I didn't have much time to pack them.

The actual move went extremely smoothly. 5 men arrived with 2 vehicles and they emptied the house in less than an hour. It went equally smoothly at the other end. The men were polite and helpful and they handled the furniture with great care.

I contacted the firm after the move when it turned out that a leaf in the dining table, which had been removed, was incorrectly fitted. 2 men from the firm came within a few days to rectify the error and collect empty boxes.

Overall, I was very pleased with the firm and would recommend them to a friend."

Move had to be arranged very quickly to fit in with buyer. The company had to load their van and deliver to a number of locations.

"I heard about Richardson's from a lady in the hairdressers who said she had used them several times and highly recommended. As our move was arranged at the last minute I didn't hold out much hope but nevertheless I rang and arranged an appointment with Mr Burridge who came and viewed what had to be moved and gave advice as to how to proceed regarding timescales etc. I had been feeling very despondent about the whole move but when he left I felt as though it could be achieved despite my misgivings. The next day the team from Richardson's arrived slightly early and we had to persuade them to have a cup of tea as we had not finished packing. The team gladly accepted the cup of tea but immediately started packing delicate items into the sturdy and strong boxes we had purchased from Richardson's the day before and it was finished in what seemed like 'the blink of an eye'. The team then went on to the garage which we felt would probably take all day but, before we knew it, they had everything packed and loaded onto the van in about an hour. The rest of the packing continued in this way we were so very impressed with the speed in which they operated and the professional and polite way they dealt with us as a family. Everything was packed, loaded and unloaded in a caring and sympathetic way - not a single solitary breakage! We are planning one last move to what will be our forever home and we will, without any hesitation be obtaining the help of Richardson's again. We have since recommended this firm to several family and friends and would have no hesitation in recommending their outstanding service to anyone."

The team arrived to start our move on time and worked very efficiently and methodically to empty our house. They were friendly and made me feel they were in control and nothing was a problem.

We used our local company to pack up and move to storage while we waited for our new house. It took them 2.5 days to pack up. We found the guys send to pack were extremely courteous, respectful and helpful. Asking questions when uncertain and how to label the boxes. They laid down protective coverings on the carpets and protected our precious items very well. The team was well led by Paul. Once we agreed a move in date we asked for the same guys to attend and Ricardsons management did this without question. They were extremely efficient on the day completing the move within 6 hours as we said we would unpack the boxes at our own pace. They delivered the boxes and furniture as instructed and protected the bannisters, door frames and carpets. We expected a first class service at the price quoted and that is what we received. A*

"We rang Richardson's and Toby came out to see us. He explain in great detail about the company, its history and facilities. The quotation was detailed sufficiently to be understandable without being over complicated.
We opted for a Packing/storage service and it was apparent that the team were well experienced and good at their jobs. A special mention about Paul. He was not a 'supervisor' but he organised the team very well. He was courteous and respectful without being nosey (we are very private people)
On a lighter note make sure you have sufficient teas and biscuits!
We were not looking forward to the whole moving experience, but the team at Richardson's helped to make the event less stressful for us."

"Prior to the move an estimator from the company arrived punctually to give us a price for the work required. He explained the terms of the contract and all insurance.
On the day of the move the team arrived promptly and introduced themselves.
They loaded all our property with care and there was no damage.
On arrival to our new property all items were unloaded with care and effiency and placed were we required them.
They erected all beds and even plumbed in the washer.

we had a very good move. it got a bit fraught nearing the due date as the solicitors hadn''t got things sorted and didn''t until the last minute. it meant your chaps were stuck in the vans for a couple of hours but they excelled in moving everything in swiftly, carefully and just coped with everything.

"we cannot speak too highly of the way they supplied boxes, came and packed everything and then looked after us when we moved. we really appreciated everything you did.
We did find it amusing to watch them pick up the swing and walk out of the garden with it without taking it to pieces!

think we've said it all above, but we'll say it again. we couldn't fault them at all and we would highly recommend them. they were superb from start to finish."

"The prompt response to our request for a quote resulted in a satisfactory price level for moving 3 items to our new property & 23 items put in wood containers for storage at their warehouse, for about 10 weeks, then brought back to us. The guys were so helpful & carefull, wrapping mattresses in polythene & polished furniture in blankets. They even offered to re-assemble settee arms that was not part of the deal ( although not taken up). They were on scheduled times each occasion.

"I cannot speak highly enough of the service from the point of asking for a quote through to getting my furniture delivered.
It was straightforward and easy to deal with the general business side of the transaction including paying monthly storage costs.
The team that packed and removed my belongings at the beginning were professional throughout - efficient and respectful of the property and belongings; they were polite and friendly throughout. I was impressed by their organisation, skill and teamwork.
When I got my belongings redelivered 13 months later the team arrived early and it was great to see the original team and that they recalled the original move. I moved from Teesside to Manchester.
They moved me in to my new home with the same efficiency and care. The move included taking some stuff to my daughters house as I was downsizing and this all happened smoothly.
Whether face to face, over the phone or via email, everyone without exception gave the same attention and service - exceptional."

"We had a large house move at very short notice. Richardson's rep arrived same day to give a quotation. This was very acceptable given the size of our house. They provided an efficient, professional service and were extremely friendly and helpful. There was a total of 6 men arrived and couldn't be more helpful with packing (then unpacking). All the Team were in company uniform and the Lorries were clean and modern. I would use Richardson's again and highly recommend this company for any house moving."

"We saw your advert in a local magazine and decided to make an enquiry about the removal of our son's bedroom furniture and other new bought items still boxed up. He had just bought a new house and needed to move in before Christmas 2018. Your sales director Toby Blythe gave a good impression of your removal company and we felt very comfortable about how the removal would take place. Our son was so pleased with the service that he recommended you to one of his friends who was due to move into a new property close to his home. They hired your company on the recommendation.
The men who actually delivered the furniture were very friendly and "down to earth" but I cannot remember their names."

"Richardson removal was recommended by a friend and it was the best advice I’d taken
The crew were punctual and polite nothing seemed to be too much for them
Access to my new home was difficult due to a narrow lane so my belongings were divided into three smaller vans so taking a lot of the stress from the move

Moved in snow. Contents in storage whilst bungalow being renovated. Returned in two stages. Great service.

"Prompt response to original request. Understood the problems we faced and gave helpful advice. Made the logistics of the move easy to understand.
