Our move took place over two days. We packed ourselves apart from the pictures as we were moving to a temporary rented house and would not be putting up pictures.

"The removers, all pleasant, polite and professional, did an excellent job of wrapping the pictures and then putting two or three together in cardboard sleeves. By the time they had done this we realised that the bulk was so great that it would take up too much room in our rented property. The removers then offered to store them and arranged this with their office there and then. Having completed the packing they asked if they could begin moving any other items which were scheduled for the next day. As we already had access to the rental this was quite feasible and made their job a lot easier the next day.
The whole experience was smooth and relatively stress free. They did their best to carry a sofa bed up stairs but access was too narrow so we had an alternative contingency plan. The main bed was dismantled and reassembled with good grace despite not being easy. Padding was provided where necessary and carpets covered appropriately.
They also managed to move a bronze sculpture on a heavy stone plinth, which was not easy but they were willing and determined to do it.
I have no hesitation in recommending Richardson Moving & Storage Ltd to any other customers."

A difficult and complex move from a very large property to a considerably smaller property with very limited access to it. Several large pieces of furniture, books, office equipment etc The approach to this property was not at all easy either and very rural too.

"To be honest we cannot fault this Company ! From the very first contact with them right through the whole process was nothing but professional but in a very relaxed understandable way. Nothing was too much trouble by any of the people we spoke to.

But the actual move was absolutely superbly undertaken over a week or so by Tom, Danny and others. They were polite, helpful, great sense of humour, nothing was too much trouble. They were actually a pleasure to have in our home with us ! But the packing they carried out was incredible, so well and carefully done, and we had some very tricky stuff to pack too !

All in all, we cannot fault the Company but especially the guys who did the actual move.

Thankyou, and we would highly recommend Richardson Moving & Storage Ltd to anyone !"

Extremely heavy sofa and kingsize mattress to be moved from a second floor flat. The sofa wouldn’t fit down the stairwell, so had to be lowered out of a set of patio doors, over a balcony, and lowered two floors down onto the pavement

Moving from older 2 bedroom semi-detached property to three bedroom link property on 4th September 2025.

"From the initial contact to surveyor's visit, quote and actual removals I was very impressed with the whole Team. The job included dismantling, and rebuilding two 6ft wardrobes and beds; it also involved disconnecting and reconnecting a washing machine and it was made watertight despite the previous owner removing the outlet seal.

Both properties were left spotless, with no damages to either property or my belongings.

The removal team on the day were prompt, offering an efficient, friendly and professional service.

Thanks to all involved in making my move as stress-free as possible.

Excellent customer service and value for money.

Move from 4 bed house in Ingleby Barwick to bungalow in Normanby. Including a lot of garden pots full and empty!

"We moved from Ingleby Barwick to Normanby and the guys at Richardsons to the man all provided and excellent service from start to finish. The whole process from the quote stage to the last box being positioned into our new home was professional friendly and efficient. We did have a lot of garden pots both full and empty but nothing was a problem for the Richardson team!
Slight accident when my wife fell over garden edging at the new home 15mins after arrival injuring her wrist the guys could not have been more helpful or concerned.

Job well done and would like to thank you ALL

Move from a 3 storey town house.

"This is the second time we have used Richardsons and the customer service is excellent. Josh came to our home and carried out an assessment and explained the moving process. On moving day the lads arrived exactly at the time they said they would. They prepared the house by covering the carpets with protective plastic and the bannisters and front door with covers. The sofas were covered and mattresses protected. The lads were very hard working and constantly on the go and very polite.

Once they arrived at our new property they again protected the stairs, bannister and door. They made sure everything was where we wanted it to be and were willing to re-arrange things if we weren't happy.

The cost might have been a bit more expensive than some other firms but the service was well worth it."

The move was from Normanby to Bishop Aukland, I had a lot of solid wood furniture being heavy, South African Beds, approximately 75 Boxes, and cupboards to dismantle etc. Quite a large move being from a 4 Bed home to another 4 Bed home.

"From the first day that I met Josh when he came to quote, and his friendly and understanding nature, he made me feel at ease and in safe hands. I had received other quotations, but non had offered the level of service or explained what they could do to help and make things easier like Josh did. He gave me immediate reassurance from day one. I decided the moment he left that Richardsons was the right fit for us. Once we got our dates from the solicitors and it was such short notice, he made a plan to ensure that I would be moved when I needed to be. Collecting a lot of things a week before and the balance on the day of the move. By move day I was exhausted and in a lot of pain due to medical issues. Tom came in and said "What can I do to help you" he got one of the guys to help me finish packing the kitchen and made sure everything went smoothly, taking all the pressure of me. At the new property they were so well organized, got everything offloaded and made sure to check with me if there was anything more they could do before they left. I would recommend Richardsons without any hesitation, they have been truly phenomenal from the first visit, and have made my move so much easier. I cannot praise them enough."

"Excellent team of removers who respected my property,. They checked all of the furniture to be removed and set about the task. House sale/purchase and also storage services for a month. It was a fairly complicated few months due to hiccups in the chain.

"Richardson's provided a few services for me during a complicated and protracted house sale/move which involved moving my belongings a few times in six months. Each time they went above and beyond in terms of how carefully and skillfully they performed each task but also being aware of how stressed I was during these times too. They took time to ensure that everything was safe, clean and also that I was ok too! On one of the days it was absolutely boiling and Im not sure how they managed to cope in those temperatures but they remained super efficient and cheerful despite the heat. This is the second time I have used Richardson's after having them recommended to me from a friend and I wouldn't use anyone else. I have also recommended them to friends who have also found their service to be exemplary."

"Although not to lowest quote, we gained the impression that it was by far the most professionally organised with a very thorough assessment by Josh. Richardson's were very flexible and accommodated a "staged" move allowing us to transport some items ourselves. The packers were really nice guys and very efficient. "Richardsons were recommended by another company who were unable to accommodate our move on the required date- how fortunate we were! Richardsons were so helpful, communicated well, solution focused, informative and carried out the removal process in close consultation and as agreed and planned. The team worked exceptionally hard on one of the hottest days of the year- remained upbeat and kept the pace going all day. The team lead was courteous and liaised closely with us across the days- having him for both days offered consistency and gave confidence. Move to storage to EU

"Richardsons, father moved us in 2011. We chose the firm as a friend had worked for them. Service was exceptional. We believe in employing local firms as their knowledge is priceless.

14 years on and require move to storage and then to EU. We have son handling our work and again service and consistency is excellent.

All staff have been polite, friendly and their camaraderie is so good working effortlessly as a team giving great care to individually wrapping breakables and teaching us how to pack a great learning curve in the dos am donts of removals. It's not just a job it's a profession conducted by people who care has been our benefit.

In addition working with another family firm to get us where we need to go is really impressive.

So thank you Richardsons and Tonks it has been a pleasure having you in our home

We downsized to a small apartment within a residential block which made the move difficult for parking and access but move accomplished without any disturbance to existing residents.

"The removal team were exceptionally good. Once they had the information on what we wanted they completed all packing and furniture moving very fast and then moved everything to the new home, placing boxes and furniture into pre agreed locations for us to unpack at our own pace.

We couldn’t be more delighted with the service provided by Richardson Removals & Storage during our recent house move. From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless and handled with exceptional professionalism.

"On the day of the move from our old home, we were warmly greeted by Tom and his team of seven courteous, cheerful, and hard-working gentlemen. They immediately set to work with great care, laying down protective coverings on the carpets and banisters before beginning the removal process. Their attention to detail was outstanding—they packed everything meticulously, including six large sofas, ensuring that each item was secured safely into the removal vans.

Due to a short delay in our move-in date, our belongings needed to be stored temporarily. Josh promptly provided a very fair and reasonable revised quote to accommodate this, which we greatly appreciated.

When moving into our new home, the team once again arrived punctually and fully prepared. They laid protective coverings throughout and consistently checked in with us to ensure that boxes and furniture were placed exactly where we wanted them. Nothing was too much trouble—even when we changed our minds about the placement of certain items, they remained patient and accommodating throughout.

A minor incident occurred when the lid of a garden storage box was accidentally damaged during the move-out. Tom immediately brought it to our attention and photographed it for reference. The issue was resolved swiftly and professionally, with the item replaced to our complete satisfaction—no fuss, no quibble.

In every way, Richardson Removals & Storage exceeded our expectations. They were friendly, respectful, efficient, and utterly professional at every stage. We wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and recommend them wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a top-tier removals company."
