Pack and move over 2 weekdays to two different addresses in another County.

"From my initial telephone conversation with Maxine in the office at Herbert Davis, I felt encouraged that although daunting to me, this pack and move was perfectly possible for their team. I was able to request an in person assessment of the property and garden, from which Andy was able to provide me with a clear plan and quotation.


From Andy's first assessment visit, he came across as a calm professional individual who very much took things in his stride and was second to none at calming my very nervous disposition. A friendly demeanour was such an important element for me.

Maxine handled the many variations of prospective move dates efficiently and with a sympathetic ear to what was becoming a very trying time towards exchange and completion.

This move was over two days, day one packing and loading and day two was transporting to another county and to two different addresses. Unfortunately owing to health issues neither myself or my husband could assist with much more than making tea/coffee and biscuits but the Team never once made us feel awkward or embarrassed about our situation, which had weighed heavily on my mind. We were regularly reminded they were here to do the job for us.

Emotions were running high as this was the clearance of my late parents belongings and I was feeling completely overwhelmed. Andy and his Team, including Maxine in the office, were amazing. They were so professional and considerate but most of all they were compassionate with the way I was feeling. All of the possessions were packed with care and then swiftly but carefully loaded. They handled all of the many garden items as well as the house itself.

They reassured me that it was not as daunting a prospect as I viewed it as they do this all of the time and they worked so hard and achieved so much in two days. They were always helpful with advice when asked along the way.

I will always be grateful to them and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone considering removal companies in their area."

The move was very pleasant , felt stress free well as much as it can when moving . The removers made the move a lot easier for me and our family

"Herbert David were amazing from start to finish . I had move with short notice as there was complications along the chain , and didn’t give them a lot of notice . I had excellent service from the communication from the main office and excellent service to the men that moved us .
We did all the packing so they didn’t need to help with that .
There arrival was very prompt on moving day , the just straight to work and they worked there socks off . I was amazed on how quick and efficient they were . At the arrival of our new house they always checked in to ensure they were placing our items in the correct room . They were careful with everything we had . The team was friendly and polite . I will always use this company and will always recommend them to family and friends .

Move from two bedroom town house with basement to two bedroom bungalow. Single parent with disabilities.

"It’s unusual to find an organisation that far exceeds your expectations and are willing to be flexible to accommodate your specific needs. So Herbert Davis were an exceptionally lucky find and are in my opinion Gloucestershire’s best kept secret!

Not only was the move careful, efficient and professional but the team were also unusually respectful, considerate & cheerful throughout the day and often went above and beyond to help wherever they were needed. They are all an absolute credit to the removals industry.

From initial contact to the end of the move Herbert Davis were consistent in friendly & professional service. I will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone requiring removal services.

Our move was not very straightworward, even tho it was only about one mile within the city. The day before the packers were to come in our solicitors told us our buyer had failed to get his money released and so we could not exchange and complete as planned. This involved a cancellation and a penalty charge, which Herbert Davis kindly reduced from 75% to 50%.

"We have nothing but praise for the speed, cheerfulness and skill of the removal team. Packing things up that we would have struggled to know what to do with.

All well packed, no breakages!

Of particular importance in selecting Herbert Davis (there was a close competitor) was that they would dissassemble beds and furniture. Very helpful.

I was moving from a big 4 bedroom house [with an annex, large greenhouse and shed] to a much smaller bungalow [in floor area] that was nearby. HD sent a team of four the day before to begin the packing. They were all very pleasant and worked well. The next day [of the move] the next house''s keys were not available until early afternoon and it was discovered that not all my stuff would fit into the pantechnican, so it was decided to send it off, quickly unload and then send it back to finish off. Luckily, the distance was small and only a matter of minutes. Because it was now getting late, HD sent three more workers to help speed up matters. It was finally finished at about 8.30 pm. Although I haven''t yet finished unpacking, everything so far seems fine, although I haven''t yet found everything I want. One drawer of a rickety tool box seems to be missing - but it''s probably there somewhere amongst the unpacked boxes.

"I thought that it was very easy to deal with Herbert Davis. They were polite, efficient and helpful and gave me a very good price.
Although I have put 'No' to some of the Code of Practice questions above, it might just have been that I was asked to read the various documents which will have explained these things and I don't remember being asked to do so. One expects to read them and is expected to do so. So, no complaints there.
The only fault was that there was a misappreciation of how much stuff I had in my old house, garage and garden, which meant a second trip for the pantechnicon. It was fortunate that I was not moving far. However, I'm sure that for a move over a longer distance, much more leeway would be given.
Herbert Davis are a family firm and are very helpful and nice to work with, as were all their packers. I would recommend them highly."

We moved from a large 3 bed semi, 2 miles to a large 4 bed detached with less than a week to find movers and with a newborn. Some furniture needed dis/re-assembly and there were garden items to move too.

"The quote process was fantastically fast, Andy made a point of coming out and fitting me in on the same day as the move was so soon and I had a newborn baby so was quite anxious about it too. He was absolutely lovely and very knowledgeable. Due to the short time frame he reassured me and got me booked in the same day.

Maxine was my correspondant via email for all the paperwork and was quick to answer my queries.

On the day, Andy and Simon arrived with the lorry at the agreed time and immediately began the job of loading things up. They were both cheerful, polite, and friendly through the process and took great care to get everything safely and professionally packed into the lorry. It was about as relaxing as a house move could be! Once packed, there was a quick and well deserved lunch break before unpacking began at the new house - with the same professional and friendly attitude as before.

I would not hesitate to hire them again, and highly recommend them to anyone moving! My only qualm was that I stupidly packed the kettle and mugs too soon and couldn't offer them a well deserved hot drink during the move."

"Seamless move, beating other quotes. Helpful delivery of a selection of sizes of boxes included in the price, particularly the wardrobe box used on the day was very helpful. I did not need to empty drawers they were taken “as is”. Two friendly polite and efficient movers, who made sure everything was as I wanted it. Highly recommended."

Our move was from a rural, large, traditional old farmhouse with outbuildings to a smaller property about 10 miles away. Access to the new house was restricted, so the removal vans could not be parked directly by the house. Furniture and boxes were unloaded into the house and also a separate annexe. What went where, was decided on the spot by us so the team were great at liaising with us.

"The removal team was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and they remained cheerful and calm throughout the whole process and worked extremely hard. Really great bunch of people. From packing, loading, moving and unloading, it took 3 days. From our perspective they worked as a real team.
The firm was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, a family business with a professional approach and our thanks to the organisers in the office as well. Really quick to respond to queries.
Everything was packed speedily and proficiently and nothing was damaged.

"Excellent service the guys were brilliant, worked quickly while taking the upmost care. No damaged caused and even manage to get a large sofa up tight stairs to the first floor which was a concern before moving.

Before the move date they were in constant contact, boxes delivered and I also was able to collect extra as well when we ran out. Everything they did from the survey, quote and move was exactly as promised in the timeframe they promised with no hidden charges.

Would highly recommend them for both excellent value and great service, a fabulous company to deal with."
